I looked at a 2016 1LT non RS and with more standard equipment my 2010 1LT had on it except that the 16 was a manual the MSRP was almost the same, so adding an Automatic would make the MSRP about $1,000 more than my 2010 was.

Don't take this the wrong way, but you just sound like one of those people who can't stick with the same car for more than a year or two. 3 5th gens in it's 6 year lifespan? I'm still barely scratching the surface of my 45th I've had for almost 4 years now! How long until you get bored of the 6th gen and move on to something else...or another, slightly different, 6th gen?

Personally, like I said before, it's a great car, but not different enough to warrant me trading in my 5th gen. If I ever got another car in the same genre, it would be something different, to try out something new. I'd get incredibly bored having essentially the exact same car over and over. Good lord.

Well unless you know his reasons for trading don't put him down for it. Many people on here have owned that many 5th gens, some went from an LT to a SS to a ZL1... Some went from an SS to a ZL1 to a Z/28.... All good reasons to trade..

Well it's early. I have to think its the pricing. I did an online build and was blown away a bit at the final price $$$$

When muscle cars really came back (2008-2014) the cars looked retro, were sick as all get out, and were priced right. When a Camaro is creeping into the 50k range and the GT500 Shelby Mustang is like 75k if you can find one, it's getting a bit silly IMO.

Not sure I'd trade mine for a Gen6. But a Corvette? Haha... maybe. A Z06? Here's my keys.
I wouldn't trade my 1LE for a Corvette but I sure as hell want one.
2LT Z51 in Shark Gray, machined wheels, and 2 tone gray interior.

Exactly, I started out with a V6 lease and then went to a V8 auto lease and then a V8 manual....

I wouldn't say I get bored, I just grew up where my parents always had older cars that seemed to always break down or need repairs and I have just decided as an adult that car headaches are something I don't want to deal with, so I lease and being in the I.T. field, new technology interests me.

Life is short and I have a 10 hour/week commute just for work so I might as well enjoy the ride. There is certainly nothing wrong with the 5th Gens (or I wouldn't have had so many, lol), just trying to give a perspective from a person that has one.

And to SteelCamaro's note about not upgrading to "just the same car" because the 6th Gen is not different enough.....well it is part for part literally completely different. Besides a similar general "shape" as the 5th gen's. If you don't like one or want one, that is valid, I am just giving a perspective from someone that actually had both to compare.

Of course he has to justify spending that kind of coin. I test drove one today finally and the car is a lot quicker and handles better obviously. Interior is nice but I'm 6'4" and 250lbs I have no idea where ur getting its comfy as the 5th Gen. I was cramped to the max. No thanks. Front is aggressive still reminds me as a Genesis and a Lancer combined. Looked at the price north of 50k I laughed and left. 6th Gen won't be for me.

If your referring to me, I am not "trying to justify" anything. I am not paying much more than I ever paid for a 2SS 5th gen. Man, I almost feel like I stumbled onto a Mustang forum.....

Do what you want, lol. It is definitely a smaller car in every way but I am 6'2, 280 and it is no more of an adjustment than I felt moving from whatever car I had before my 5th gen moving to the 5th gen.

I have never thought "man I feel cramped in here", I usually just am surprised at how comfortable the seats feel.

It is like people forget how much it felt like driving in a submarine when they first drove the 5th gen's.

Many 5th Gen owners are happy with their 5th Gens. myself being one of them. I saw a 6th Gen on display last fall and don't get the hype! The front end with the huge lower grill is ugly ,also not impressed with the interior other than the configurable LED lighting. The 5th Gen was the return of a true GM muscle car , that alone will never be beat.

Does it really matter? I still think owning 3 of the exact same car in 5 years is still pretty pointless. Why get the exact same thing when the one you have is still perfectly good? Just so you can say you got a new car? If someone ultimately wants a ZL1, then save up to get that one from the start. I understand a lot of times those cars are financially unattainable, so most people just settle for a V6 or whatever, which is fine, but then don't lease or get a different car every year, be at least a little financially responsible. It's a waste of money and only going to prolong you from reaching your ultimate goal. Owning an SS, I have no desire to upgrade to a ZL1 or Z/28, because I'm perfectly content with the model I own. Sure, they would be AWESOME to own, but I've already experienced the Camaro of this era. Same goes for my WRX, the STi is better in every way, sure, but it's still basically the same car and would be boring to own the same thing, in my opinion. I'd buy a Focus RS, EVO, Golf R, etc. before an STi. Don't get me wrong, if I win the powerball and money is no object, then I'll be the first in line to buy every model for every brand. I guess I'm just too much of a general car guy, not really partial to any particular brand, and want to try everything.

All it takes is regular maintenance, and these cars last well over 100K miles. Heck, Edelbrock even offers a 100k mile warranty with their packages. That's how much faith they put into the Gen 5's longevity.

My local dealers haven't gotten a 6th gen on the lot yet

When I widen the search most dealers are asking 40K+ for SS's and 30K+ for V6's. If I had 40+ grand to blow cash I'd probably buy a 1LE and if I wanted more power I'd buy mods.

This isn't suppose to be an apples to apples comparison, but that's what I'd personally do with that kind of money

Also for 2SS money you could have a used ZL1

Once again, my logic, and I know it isn't a fair comparison

From a technical aspect, yes. The LS3 is also technically a different engine from the LS2, but they are still both small block Chevy V8s. Unless you're talking a 5 generation, 50 year difference, at the end of the day, a Camaro is still a Camaro. There's more to cars than just the technical side of things.
