Oil Change: How to Help-Please

So I want to change my oil. I crawled under the car after driving up my home made ramps made out of scrap 2x6 boards x3. I can see the plastic pan and there appear to be a lot of fasteners holding it on.

Is it easier than it looks?
With the dry sump does the oil drain out like normal?
Any trick to filling it back up?

Some how to pictures would be great.

Way easier than it looks. Only a bit extra to do.

Concisely:
Fasteners come off simply for the tray. Drain both plugs. Plug closer to the driver side is the sump drain with less oil to drain. Other plug is where a majority of the oil will drain from the pan.
If you have the desired oil and filter install and fill the system with 9qts. Turn the vehicle on for a minute to move the oil so there becomes room for the final qt. Add it in and the oil is now fresh.

Our Z/28's take 10qts.
I just now had to remind someone in the corvette forums that there are two drain plugs

the sump pan plug will drain maybe a quart or so. The front pan bolt is where the majority will drain. Remove the belly pan entirely to help with the mess. No matter what you do, the oil will drain directly on the little crossmember and cause frustration. A small mess is inevitable. The belly pan has two plastic plugs that can be difficult on the rear. A plastic retaining plug tool (interior trim tool) is very helpful. The oil filter is pretty easy access and use the PF64 or equivalent.

Thanks. Ok 10 quarts and a filter. What filter?

So the interior trim tool is for prying the retaining plastic plugs that hold on the pan?

If anyone has pics?

Next I'll tackle the rear diff. I found the two plugs and need to make sure I have the right tool for them.

GM says 5w-30 for street use and 15w-50 for track and that is exactly what I use. Mobil 1 is the oil of choice. Use the PF64 AC filter since GM recommends it and says to ONLY use this filter at the track. No need to overthink their advice

Yes, the trim tool is to pry the plastic plugs at the rear of the belly pan. Rear diff is simple and the right tool is a 3/8" ratchet extension of the appropriate length. Yes, the square of the extension fits in the plug.

Is this the same tool required to remove the rain shield from the heat extractor on the hood?

No it is not. The rain shield is held by a two piece resuable plastic rivet. You need to pull the middle out, which unlocked the rivet as it comes out.

The only problem is they recommend the 15-50 be removed after the track time. That's a lot of oil and filter changing. Not supposed to drive it at all with the 15-50 on the street.

I just went to my first track day. It was in the 60's for a high temp so I decided to go easy and just run the 5-30 in it.

I'm thinking for hot summer track days I'll put the 15-50 and the PF64. But I'm not sure what to do if I want to drive it anywhere else, around town. Warm it up really well?

You need to get two quarts but it only takes a little over a quart...like 1.2 or so. Synthetic Axle Lubricant 75W-90, GM P/N 88900401. You can also add the additive Add 3.3 Oz (98mL) LSD additive GM P/N 88900330
