anybody else stuck in Dearborn, Michigan???? how long????

I can take my vacation on monday for a week but my car is still stuck there in Dearborn and not sure if I want to book a flight yet. There's a chance I could get it on Monday but theres also that chance I won't even get it next week, even though it is only 3 hours away lol. SO what would yall do??????

Yeah, I'm right there with you! I'll bet the final days of waiting are the hardest. Hang tough! www.camarotracking.com shows I went to the Dearborn yard on 9/9/09. My dealer is about 25 miles away. But they need to configure a full load (truck for me) so I'm trying to be as patient as I can.

how long have you been there? And what is in Dearborn to make them take our vehicles there??

I believe Dearborn is the "rail head" into the United States from Canada. It is a massive complex filled with vehicles of every brand. Think of it as a point of departure (rail) for the mid-west and western states.

Here is a google earth view. The yard is not really in Dearborn Michigan, but further west. On Michigan Avenue east of I-275. This view from 2007 doesn't show many cars/trucks waiting to be sent on their way like there is there now! I was by this yard about 3 weeks ago and it is full of cars now. Mostly Fords due to the proximity of their plant (just to the west of this pic). How long do they stay there? Can't say. How long do imports stay at their port of entry (POE) be it San Diego or Jacksonville? When the truck can be filled or rail car in your case, it's loaded and it leaves for its next destination.

i'd be angry if my car ended up in dearborn and i couldnt just go get it. i am within 10 minutes of there twice a week.... it would be hell if my car was in a railyard 30 min from where i live and i had to WAIT for it to get put on a truck and taken to my dealer!

Can't say for the east coast but the imports in the west go through Los Angeles/Long Beach. Since the down turn they have been sitting for months, but then again it takes alot longer for Toyota to slow up production then it does for car producted in North America.
