I think I would be fine around the 550rwhp mark. Maybe 600 if I decided to push for a little more later. If it will be around 550 rwhp with LT headers and CAI with the stock lsa blower Id probably be ok with that. Maybe stick in a cam later to hit the 600+ mark.

If you have the heads off, I would at least replace the lifter buckets as extra insurance. I had a lifter rotate after a cam install due to those at 35k mi.

The LS9 camshaft is a great cam for what you are looking to achieve. It is not the biggest or baddest cam out there, but it will pull all the way to red-line, idle just like your stock cam, and offer 100K mile valve-train reliability. The LS9 will easily make your goal of 525-550RWHP (I am at 650RWHP) without breaking a sweat. No need to change out any parts other than the cam itself. I would however, change out the oil pump and replace the timing chain tensioner, no matter what cam you decide to go with. Good luck with your project!
