Dive right in, don't think too much about it because eventually it will pass you by. I wanted to get into the software programming field and at the time my current job was stressful and a dead end. All the money I had saved for my own place again went towards getting that degree, didn't care about the consequence just wanted to have a career. After all the years with the struggle and stress I graduate in the spring. Do what it takes to get into the field or career you want. Oh and this is my second degree I will receive.

I'm in college now, because it's what my parents want. Not getting me any closer to an airline gig though.

You're going to need a lot of hours and training and in class hours to get a private pilots license. My father is a private pilot for a company and also captain. Keep doing hours in the simulator and take those recommended flight classes. You'll get there.

I have ~45 hours. I'm super close to private.

When you do get the license, keep training. Seems a lot of these pilots today stop training in the simulator once they have they're license. The hard work will payoff, if I could I would love to be a pilot. Old man taught me some things and can land those big jets on the simulator pretty good. Love flying above the city upside down lol.
