I still wash my car every weekend after years of ownership. I still try to keep it in prestine condition, changing the oil and fluids accordingly. I still listen for any odditities on my suspension, tranny, and engine. I still... well... yes... its still very special to me.

black vinyl top. It was an early '69 as it had a 327 engine. The car never saw a garage so in just a few years it was completely rotted out & looked like hell.

It's a mass produced car, what do you expect?

A minimal semblance of care?

What's the "two bucket" approach to washing the car mean? I gather it has got to do with using "two" buckets, but why?

It keeps the dirt/grit from scratching the paint. This is partly why you start to get swirl marks and spiderwebbing in the clear coat. |

In reality it should be 3 bucket, one bucket for the rims/tires, then the two for washing the vehicle.

I work very odd hours, no set schedule and have other things to take care of before I can even begin to dedicate time to detail my car. I do not have a garage to detail her anyways, away from the elements. Where I live it is always windy by the afternoon and it's too cold in the mornings. My car is my daily driver and as such she is parked outside where other people, customers, park. Door dings and dents are now on my car because of it. Some paint scratches and blemishes were from the previous owner, not my fault. I purchased her used last year, aside from cosmetic defects, she runs great. I do not have the financial resources like others to pay for a paint job at the moment as I have other more important bills to pay first. My car is not a garage queen, i wish I had a garage, but I don't. It hurts to see those dents and scratches, but it is unavoidable at the moment. Mechanically she runs great cosmetically she needs some work, not now, hopefully in the near future I'll have enough funds to fix her up. She doesn't look bad and you don't notice those defects unless you know that they are there, most don't until I point them out.

Everything is disposable now days. No one has respect for anyone's property much less their own.

Those classic muscle cars that are in pristine shape started out like mine.....bought with all the options you wanted. ...colour of choice. Kept in excellent shape by their owners not because they thought they would be worth something. Kept that way because they enjoyed having a nice clean car that would still look as good down the road as it did then. I don't give a rats ass what people think about it being massed produced.....it my car..it's nice ...fast and turns heads. My daughter that loves my car will enjoy it 25 years from now just as much as I am right now. So when she pulls into a show in 2041 in an low mileage modded original paint Camaro SS she can say ....ya it was my dad's car but now it's mine and I wouldn't change a thing This is a story I want to make reality rather then read about.

it isn't easy but when I tell people that I don't have a garage to store it and I detail outside all year from march to early December they can't believe it.

I've had my 2010 SS since 2009 and I don't do the constant cleaning like I did 4-5 years ago but it doesn't look like a beater or anything like that. As far as how others keep and treat their cars I couldn't care any less, when I see a Camaro I simply don't notice it's condition. A lot of us members don't use our cars daily, if your Camaro is a daily driver it's going to get beat up. How badly it's beat up may have little or nothing to do with how the owner has treated the car.
There are now so many Camaro's on the road that there is bound to be many that have been beat up and show a lot of wear. I worry about my car but not anyone else's. |

dirty. I love getting compliments on my 7+ year old 5th Gen almost every time I take it out. They may be all over the place now but I still think they are unique.
