The absolute cheapest 2017 ZL1 Ive seen for sale was 63k + tax, title, registration and whatever BS charges the stealership hits you up for. most of them for sale right now are in the 66 - 70k range based on options.
if your thinking new zl1, I'd wait a year, buy one with a few thousand miles for 15k less; unless money is no object then just go buy it. It will spank a stock 5th gen.

I bought my ZL1 new in 2015. This year I put it up for sale. Nothing wrong with it and I love it but at the end of the day its just a car. It scratched the itch I had and now I would like something else. It wasnt my intent to get rid of the car this soon but life goes on.

My advice is buy what you can COMFORTABLY afford. Not a payment that is every last cent in a perfect world with no what ifs come into play. Because they always do. I bought a 2013 one owner ZL1 that is certified pre owned at the Chevy dealer with 1,200 miles on it for $39,000. Basically a new car at a huge discount. And got a great deal on my trade to boot! Do what your comfortable doing is my point.

Bought my 12 in 13 with 1800 miles on it. Original owner put headers on it, did some tasteful cosmetic changes, and then way afraid of the power. Traded it in for an Audi. I picked it up for a good price. It has 24K now.

Great thoughts, I do not like to give stealer ships their 20%, bought a new 96 Ram Air firebird, had a small blemish in the clear coat, by the time they were done it was painted twice, replaced the front and rear windshield,(They steal wooled the over spray off the windshield), so much for a new car. Sounds like a used ZL1 one with the right first owner should be a good pick then. I was also thinking it might be a good idea to wait for a few 17 to pop up used and see what that does for the cost. I do like the new blue. From what I can see, except for a few new coolers the 15 with $2-3K of work done will be able to keep up with the 17 and I can always paint one blue!

No, it's based on historical fact.
GM runs 25% off inventory between October 1 and December 31. $63,000 x 75% = $47,250 1 owner private sale will be 10% below this. $47,250 x 90% = $42,525. Many dealers will hold back 5% for themselves and not pass it on to buyers; $63,000 x 80% = $50,400 Pushing 1 owner private sales slightly higher; $50,400 x 90% = $45,360 Purchasing new allows other combined incentives and most of the '17s will book in the $65k range.

After watching that Nurburgring video on the chevy site, I'd almost wait 10 months if I knew I could get a '17 for 45ish.

My thoughts on this....
The 20% off new ones does a number on the used ones. This is where it gets dicey, I came from a 2010 SS/RS, Thinking OMFG this ZL1 is going to be a rocket ship, That's not the case, I describe it as the ZL1 has "longer legs" over my stock 2010. Sure the ZL1 does EVERYTHING better but its really not that fast stock. I go to many parking lot meet ups and talk to people and I spoke to quite a few guys that have owned ZL1's and they same the thing, "great car but I got bored, wish it was faster" Easy to say just spend a few bucks and MOD it but people don't want the hassles and lose the warranty. -Bobby
