No problems, and to be honest, I don't know if I would have been prepared to spend another 15K on a Z-28 when they were released, which I'm sure will have worse gas mileage than the SS. I want a weekend car with great looks and good power. Not a track star. So in retrospect, I still think I made the right choice. What do you think the chances of people buying Z's are going to keep them for weekend cruises and light driving? What would the general purpose be for Z buyers?
A Z-buyer's motives will be just as varied as the motives as the current buyers. Some of us just don't want someone else modding their car (other than tunes, which I guess I could do if I wanted to spend the time developing the REAL skills to do them). I personally don't have the time anymore to do alot of my own work and I've got three vehicles torn apart right now for various resto/custom work...so being able to get a 500 hp camaro from the showroom and not having to deal with warranty issues for mods (whether they caused the problem or not...let's not go there)...would be worth it to me.

Other buyers will just want the latest/greatest (think people willing to pay 5-10K markups over sticker) and they will run out and trade in their recently purchased Camaro for the new "toy" so they can be "special" again.

Other buyers will want the Z28 because that's what they grew up driving.

I'm glad you are enjoying your car and I personally don't see you being disadvantaged in owning a first year car. Enjoy it and don't worry about everyone else!

The person that wants four seat for the times they absolutely have to haul someone. My Corvette doesn't do 4 people real well! Also, the Camaro may be a better fit for the person size wise...I have friends that just don't fit in the Corvette or they can't climb in and out easy enough. The Corvette may be a great performance vehicle, but its not for everyone.

People ask us why we bought a Corvette for $71k when we could have bought a Euro car for not much more or even the same price if we had bought used...

People buy what they want...

I'd say low $40's will be out of the picture. Mid to high $40's will be more like it. That's a pretty sweet powerplant in the CTS-V, selling that for lower $40's would be an absolute steal...literally.

Thumbs up

They had me at:
The near-4300-pound CTS-V thunders from 0 to 60 mph in 4.1 seconds and nails the quarter mile in 12.3 seconds (automatic) or 12.4 seconds (manual). Top speed is limited to 175 mph in the auto (to preserve the tranny), but the manual will storm to an autobahn-melting 193 mph. As the Z/28 will weigh 200 to 300 pounds less than the CTS-V, it may nail 60 mph in 3.9 seconds and run the quarter in the very low 12s. This Z28 could be the fastest Chevy ponycar since the legendary ZL-1-powered COPO 9560 Camaros built 40 years ago.
lol!!!! I would like to Chevrolet produce this car. That would make 2 very fast cars in Chevy's arsenal, the Z28 and the Corvette. I don't think it will be near 65k, like someone stated. Maybe more like 45-50k I'm guessing?? That might even be a bit high?
