Z/28 Convertible?

New to forum, has anyone heard of the possibility of a new Z/28 Convertible? I know that may be blasphemy to purists, but I would love to get one to blow away the GT500 convertible.

If this is true this just made my day! It looks like the Corvette is going up for sale as soon as Scott confirms this news. I cant wait to see the garage with my new Z28 next to the rest of them! I have a space ready now!

It depends on how much cash you have to throw around and not think about the losses. If you can possibly wait, I would wait. Why spend money on a car now, if you KNOW FOR A FACT, that the Z28 is going to be out in production and you are going to trade in? Plus, you'll have more money saved up for the Z by the time it comes out.
Hope that helps.

Hey guys,

I just got back from Detroit this weekend. I spoke to a friend who is a designer for GM. I can't post everything he told me. For now the Z-28 is back on. The hood has been revised, not sure if this was covered already. But the hood that was posted here earlier is no longer in. Just thought someone might be interested.

A lot of parts are going to come from the CTS-V bin just because they are already developed and that will keep costs down would be my guess.
That would be the logical expectation unless GM indicates otherwise.

It's also quite possible that GM could keep the cost just below $40k. Upgrading to the LSA engine (w/supercharger) is about a $6,500 difference (probably a bit less) which still leaves $2-3k for driveline and suspension upgrades. If they can get it done at that price, even $39,999.99 would be very rough on Ford. I'm sure most buyers would option the car into the $40's but it would make some great headlines. If that's not GM's goal the LS9 setup to destroy the GT500 would make more sense IMO and could still be done with some impressive all around upgrades in the $40's, but we'll just have to wait and see what they do.

I have been saving up and honestly waiting to either
A. See the return of a rwd Impala SS
B. Z28 Camaro
But I am going nuts not having a fun car at the moment might just get a 1SS and pay it off quick. If this is concrete I would def wait I may own a Ford but I HATE HATE the mustang and the Z28 would kill the gt500
