MGW Retro Short Throw Shifter
Just installed my MGW Short Throw Shifter and it looks great and what a difference the shifting is now. I should have done this a long time ago but a then again I wouldn't have gotten the retro style so all is good. It took me a little over 4 hours to install. It wasn't really hard but a couple steps in the installation video made it harder. But overall it wasn't hard just time consuming and I did it on ramps.

That's the flat stick style right? Any extra noises from shifter after install?

Yes it is. No noise at all. I fixed the boot after I took the picture.

Slight hijack: I've been waiting for someone to replace the 1LE/ZL1 shifter with the MGW. I'm trying to decide if the upgrade is worth it, since the 1LE shifter is pretty good. Your thoughts on the differences? I'm interested in shift gate, shift effort, noise, etc. Thanks!

Is it required that you must lower the transmission to install it? I just bought and MGW Flatstick off a member and it will be here this week and will be installing it myself. I watched MGW's install video and they took a transmission jack and lowered the transmission for more access but I do not have one of those

No you don't need a tranny jack. All I used was a regular floor jack with a block of wood. Lowered the tranny until it bottomed out and left it there for support. Now a couple hints that the video makes it harder. First, the video showed you to put on the bottom dust cover from the bottom. The problem is that there is not much room and I couldn't get any leverage. I tried to put it on from the top and managed to get it on in less then a minute. Trust me much easier from the top. The second is the rod clips. The video showed you while the tranny was out and I know why now. In the car however, not so easy. The passenger side was pretty easy since the clip is right there. However, the driver side is a pain in the a**. First the hole to put the Allen key in is in the inside and it's blind. You be lucky if you get it in. I just pryed it up with a screwdriver until it finally uncliped praying I didn't break it but it didn't. Overall it was not too bad the dust boot and the drivetside clip was the hardest. Hope this helps
