Did you know how many people came into my dealership and asked "WHERE'S THE MALIBU SS?????" Quite a few actually! Yes there's the LTZ, but no Turbo or supercharged model SS?
At our meeting on the Malibu in Chicago in 2007, they mentioned a "turbo SS" type version may be introduced in mid 2009.....because some people may want a sporty version of this new top selling car in the Chevy line up. Is it here? No. 2009 Malibu's have started arriving and I have no word on such a model. Is it Mid-2009? No. Does this mean it's dead? No. What it does mean is, people want it bad enough, and it's actually kind of painful to wait. Hey, I'd love to see it! But there's always a few steps in baking a cake. The cake is now out of the oven......Now all it needs is the frosting.....and it will get there. |

A well written piece there.
I was never a "Camaro" man - they didn't sell here in the UK and you only really see them at shows. A friend bought a 3rd Gen (now long gone) and we had many a good night cruising about enjoying the 5.0 V8 soundtrack. I bought my Monaro to kinda get that "new age" feeling for the same sort of car - and when the 5th Gen came about I was hooked. I drooled like a school kid and talked everyone in to early graves about it (I still do!). I'm even considering importing a US car rather than waiting for the (overpriced, I bet) UK car to get one sooner (if a dealer US side will help me...). Amazing stuff - and one HELL of a job making the concept so a reality so closely!

Anyone with this comment must be younger because you don't mention all the racing history that a Z/28 embodies. Not insulting you, just stating that for us older guys, the Z/28 is an important product. Yes, it's an RPO number and you may discount it as only being that but for us who remember the Camaros racing heritage, it's much more than that. Let me ask you this....Would you say that a "GT", "Boss" or "Shelby" is just a name? |

For example, Z/28's could be LS3 manual only. Lighten them up by getting rid of the side airbags, lighting packages, fog lights, A/C and add Corvette brakes, and offer Z/28 only color combos and stripe packages. Better than nothing and development cost would be low. Even better would have been to keep the LS3 an exclusive Z/28 only option and offer the L99 as a manual in an SS. That would have given it a clear distinction without breaking the bank. |

I honestly don't think a car that is quite that stripped would be able to pay for itself. I mean the added cost of producing that car would be greater than the money made from it because not enough people would buy a car without a/c, air bags, and the base model shiny stuff. No disrespect, just my thought.

it is. that's why the L99 is with the auto. and the LS3 is with the manual.
