Amazing Machine
I realize I'm preaching to the choir here but most people wouldn't understand. The Z/28 is not my daily driver (2012 CTS-V 6-speed Coupe) but due to some great weather, I've had it out since August 29th. This is the longest I've ever been able to drive one of the hot rods. It's difficult to put into words how much I enjoy this car! I now have 1,630 miles in just under a year which is huge for me. I sold a 2010 Camaro SS with less than 2,500 miles and a 2004 GTO with 6,700 miles to buy the Z with the plan to use it more often. I'm happy to say it has worked out that way so far. I burnished the brakes a couple of days ago and have an oil change planned for the weekend. It has quickly become my favorite car and I've owned a few. It's very cool that I've not seen another on the road and only hardcore gear heads even know what they are. That is all 😎

I'm shocked at how many guys I know who have zero idea what the z/28 is. They know nothing about the car at all. I wonder if it was lack of advertisement or are they just that out of touch or lame.

I think it's probably a combination of all three. As you can tell by my signature, I like to drive uncommon vehicles and this one certainly fits the bill. There have been a few people that know a little bit about it but most don't. Kind of like trying to explain my wife's '14 SS. Virtually no one knows what that is and it's a really great car!

Then they aren't car guys, and certainly not Chevy guys, or racing fans. It won back to back Continental Sports car championships against some pretty stiff manufacturer competiton. It's a cave man's analog dream car.

Lol. Thanks! I've been very fortunate that my wife has allowed me to buy something, pay it off, and then keep it. I haven't been able to keep them all but I'm happy with what I have. I've owned the '79 Z since 1980. It was my only car until 1985 when I bought a beater '74 Z to drive in bad weather. Not a great plan in the midwest! I was then able to gradually "upgrade" over time but it's been a long process. An enjoyable one however!

Seems to be a lot of V owners who become Z owners! I traded my 2011 CTS-V wagon and some cash for my Z, even though I gave up 51 HP, I am one step closer to my dream of one of every generation of Z/28!

my current 69 was bought in 87 when my other was wrecked and it was a long time to get from shell to driver but I've finally put around 700 miles on it- in 30 years have to say it doesen't drive like a new one and A/C wasnt an option (supposed to be 94 here today) still trying to figure why I like the old car ![]() enjoy your cars guys dont polish them with a diaper

I put 7K miles on my Z/28 in one year with Michelin PS4s and it is the most fun I have ever had driving in the suburbs and canyons of Los Angeles ! I have 5 cars, including an M3 (stick, ragtop), 335i (HT conv.), Chevelle (stick), etc.. ., and I only want to drive the Z/28. It is so much fun to drive !

I wondered if the Z/28 was the way I should have gone. Got myself a 2014 1LE for a heck of a deal. Anyone have some side by side knowledge and experience they'd like to share? I don't regret my purchase, but the thought of a 427 and a few other goodies makes me wonder lol.
