So sell it and buy a Tesla. I however want my gas burning V8. It's not like you didn't know what you were buying? These are the most fuel efficient and eco-friendly Camaros ever. Are they as friendly as a prius? No! Then again tell me how great those batteries are gonna be for the environment when they start to die. There is a reason we have choices. I love my car and hope you can find one you can live with.

Yes of course its a nice car and fun to drive etc, but I'm starting to hate driving it. Why?

The incredible, huge, ugly, disasterous oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, and our incredible dependancy to oil.

Oil has killed tens of thousands of poeple over the years (rigs, war, pollution) and destroyed countless animals, birds and fish. It's expensive, it pollutes, its ineffecient, and the US declares BS wars to get it while companies like BP make billions selling it to a nation addicted to it.

I''ve owned 10 Trans Ams and now a Camaro, and I have to tell you I'm feeling pretty GD guilty. GM was on the right track when they came out with the first electric car (the EV1) 10 years ago and thought the car must have sucked since they stopped building it, but then I saw this movie http://www.whokilledtheelectriccar.com/ and it changed my mind.

Sorry Camaro fans, but I'm just not excited about my purchase anymore. I was just looking at http://www.slpcamaro.com and read their super-charger package for $20,000. And for what? To ge a lousy 125 or so extra Horsepower? To burn more gas and oil? WTF!!! Electric can do the job much better, for much less, and without stinking up the planet.

The world is going insane and I unfortunately have contributed to it. I am really hoping that Electric cars finally make their way onto the market soon. I know the Nissan Leaf is around the corner and we can now order cars from Tesla, but we need more - alot more - to break away from the stranglehold that is big oil.

I bought a $40k+ Camaro, and I regret my purchase.
Electric cars depend on the grid for energy and in this country that energy comes from coal plants so converting to EV increases pollution not decreases. Gas powered cars can run on ethanol and if we did not have a corn lobby (corn ethanol is very inefficient) we would have plenty of cheep ethanol that is largely carbon neutral to run our cars. Brazil did this and with other changes has gained energy independence. Convert you Camaro to run on ethanol it should be a simple timing change but with ecm's I am sure it is more complicated than it used to be. Knee jerk reactions are never the solution to complex problems. If we stopped driving many people would die. If we convert to EV pollution levels would skyrocket. If we shutdown the oil companies we would have geopolitical chaos. Complex problems need complex solutions. I am not saying the people who say we cant find a solution till years in the future. That's just not true solutions exist Hydrogen, Sugarcane ethanol (the easiest) and others. EV is probably the worst solution to do it and be environmentally friendly we would have to change our production methods, and upgrade our grid not to mention the horrible damage the batteries cause in production and disposal. As far as the Gulf spill that was not a result of our dependence on oil. It was a failing of regulatory agencies to regulate there industries correctly Oil is drilled off shore around the world and only here are the companies not required to follow the same safety rules elsewhere. So don\t sell your Camaro if you want safe energy just be aware of who you vote for.

Until something better comes along... I don't see oil disappearing

I'll throw some politics into the mix. See how quick this gets shut down(mercifully). How come Obama's getting a pass on this? If Bush were still in office the media would be calling for his head.

A car still pollutes
I understand that, but why go half ass about the environment? I mean, if he's going to the extreme of not liking the camaro, then why not just try and change your entire life? That's like a guy trying to be vegan but eats all meat except beef...doesn't make sense.

I didn't say I was going to give it away. (And it cost $42, not $35)

I am thinking about selling it, but won't give the money to Al Gore. I love the environment (And I Freakin' love trees!) but I love my money too.
I think your misguided about the effects of oil and carbon. Your guilt has very little evidence to back it up. Most of the climate data was manipulated and exxagerated for political gain. There have been ice ages and warmer periods in history without humans ever being around. Just enjoy your life and treat others like you want to be treated. And do some homework.

I dont feel guilty at all.

Oil never killed anyone. Its the greeding f'n pigs that run the f'n companies. While I'm at it, fuk u Al gore for duping billions of people that the world is gonna drown cos the ice caps are melting. Go Google Earth and it tell me a different story. Your an ASS of the highest degree.

All these tree huggers make me wanna puke in their faces cos all they really care about is getting noticed and duping billions out of our pocket, just like the f'n Y2K scam.

Fuk the lot of them, sorry for the rant, but today was NOT a good day to see this thread. Makes me want to burn some gas, peddle to the metal.

Love the Camaro, didnt buy it to save the planet, didnt buy it to get great gas figures. If that was your case you shouldnt have bought it.

Not Exactly, I just plan on doing my Bit to pollute the world. When I change my oil I don't drop it off in the AUTOZONE anymore, I find " leads to stream Gutter and pour it on in.

Yeh I know it is a dick move but why should I put an effort in recyling and going green when it is all a HUGE Farse.

I'll get my balls busted at inspection for a SES light when BP is making mega money while just unadbatedly killing the Gulf.

Screw it, I'll save my 1.20 in gas and just pour it in the stream.

Sincerely I don't want to get you mad or anything. I share your caring for the planet, but if you feel so strongly about it why did you buy your car. A car that is actually worse on the environment. I'm not calling you out but come on if those are you convictions why those choices. Yes I believe in climate change the earths history is full of them how much part we play in it is up for debate. Even scientist will argue global warming as it relates to man. Ice ages have been debated as being caused by shifts in the Earths orbit or wobbles on the earths axis or polarity switch. Solar activity has been shown to affect weather and climate and they can last decades. Yes burning oil generates greenhouse gases so do farm animals and the refried beans you ate in that burrito last week. Ae you going to stop eating the animals or the burrito? When is enough enough, every generation is given their environmental scare. In the 60-70 it was global cooling. In the 80-90 it was the ozone whole depletion and skin cancer. 2000-2010 global warming. I'm sure you go back enough you keep finding them.
