E85 is basically race gas... AND the fact the 5.0 with that E85 tune in question had tires too.

The argument of picking up 1.5 seconds with a tire is stupid.

My 07 GT makes 407 RWHP, weighs 3800+ lbs with me in it. It's an Auto, non-intercooled Centri blown car, Stock Headers, stock suspension, 3.31 gears, and crappy goodyear eagle F1 tires. It ran consistent 12.2-12.3 @ 113. So, with the logic of a "tire dropping 1.5 seconds, since my 07 already has an O/R pipe" my GT should be running 10's right?

I don't think so....

A lot of people need more track time before they start throwing insane estimates on time and what a mod will do. At most, a Camaro with an O/R Pipe, and a tire without a tune will run 12.1-12.2 @ 114-115 in great weather with a great driver. It will not run mid 11's @ 117-118 with only those two modifications.

There's not really any substantial difference in performance between the CAI brands(AEM, Spectre, K and N, Air Raid), besides price.

You are forgetting, it wasn't just a tune.

The car was tuned, which probably made 400-415 RWHP, and had DRAG RADIALS.

The Fastest SS to date was a 12.58 with a GREAT Driver, in near Perfect Weather. I doubt a Tire and a O/R Pipe will drop a full second off of a 1/4 mile and increase trap speed 4-5 MPH.

Actually he gained 2MPH over a previous run of 11.54@116 which included the ported stock intake and O/R H-pipe. We chatted extensively about it because I felt his MPH was off. He was using the stock fronts vs. skinnies and was running out of injector for the e85.

His 11.44 run was on race gas with skinnies on the front. For 10's he is going to need more power as he has reached his limit.

DA was around 500' which I would love to have here. The 11.63@118 I ran was in 2,500' DA.

Nice times on his side for sure.

Since your axles/ rear suspension is stock are you going to be worried about breaking with a dead hook from your stickies.

Most modified SS owners I talk to here are very concerned about breaking with the added traction that comes with "drag tires" until they have done all the proper supporting mods, some go as far as doing a 9" swap. I think you should be ok at your hp level with upgraded shafts, center section, bushings, braces, and suspension otherwise its just gonna be a matter of time before you break.

Actually, if you have the automatic there is no concern. I`m running completely stock suspension and drag radials. Now the Mn6 is a different story. Auto`s preload the drivetrain and I have zero hop on a 1.61 60 foot on the way to high 10`s, low 11`s.. Looking to break my personal best this friday, air looks awesome and its a track rental. Looking for 10.7x`s hopefully, need a converter to best the top stock internal L99 record at 10.52 though.

To my dismay, I did read in a couple magazines and on some shows on SPEED that the camaro and mustang handling didnt have much of a difference and in some cases the mustang had slightly better lap times.

It is definitely a downside that its more expensive, when they announced that v6's and v8's would have IRS, I was worried GM wouldnt be able to sell any of them cause of the price increases. But it worked out apparently
