turbo setups respond well to mods as well. can likely get some good power out of them for cheap.

I wonder if they did a boosted launch in 4wd like us diesel guys do. 1.8 60 ft's all day in a 7k lb truck, is no problem when your already spooling your turbos at the line and don't have to worry about traction due to all 4 wheels grabbing the pavement. I could take most vettes in the 1/8th in my old 99 Dodge w/ just a tune.

That's unfortunate, as a regular cab/short bed/2WD with the V6/Turbo is the one I'd buy for sure.

Thinking I'll get same truck with the regular 3.7, which is still putting out some pretty good numbers. But Ford will lose out on a couple grand worth of revenue they could have gotten out of me for the turbo....
That sucks, I was actually considering a RC 4x4 ecoboost. Extended cab or supercrew adds like 3k plus to the price. COME ON FORD!

Both trucks tested were 2WD

Again, what's the point when you have a 5.3L that gets 300+ hp? It isn't always about efficiency but more about choice in this case.

Pretty weak argument...

Ford has a powerplants that surpass everything GM offers in power and MPG for their truck line minus the Duramax. I am not sold on the new Powerstroke.

GM should be concerned more about profitability and until their inefficiency comes to affect sales then it would be a bad business decision to pour money into R&D for a better powerplant.

Also, the 4.8L for 2011 is rated at 302 HP @ 5600 RPM and 306 TQ @ 4600 RPM. Admittedly, the F150s do outperform the Silverado 1500s pretty badly. I wouldn't doubt if they drop most of their current engine lineup in favor of the 3.6L and 6.2L found in the Camaro, but they would have to work on the 5.3L for an entry V8.

GM is already in R&D phase. They will be replacing the current motors with a new small block in the near future:

I'm not saying they shouldn't respond, it's just you have to pick your time to respond in order to maximize profit. They, like me, have obviously seen a serious threat to sales and they are making arrangements to respond.

This is why/ GM needs to respond:

I, just as much as you, want to see GM be successful so we can drive the foreign car manufactures out however if they are not business agile and change old habits, will again find themselves in financial peril.
