My car right before the Camaro was a Ford Probe. Yes, a hatchback. And yes, I miss that. The trunk space in my RS is not bad, but the opening is horrible. My bet is most folks that think you don't need a hatchback have never owned one. Most recent uses (Probe)

- 15 bags of red mulch (I do this 3 times a year)
- transport my bike, a Cannondale R500 (twice a year). I just might get it into my Camaro with both wheels off, haven't tried yet.
- Sound system (last done in 2009). Two large speakers, various mikes, stands and cables.

It isn't that the space was bigger in the Probe. The OPENING was bigger with the hatch open and seats down. Looks like I will be borrowing the wife's car more often now. Her bonus: she drives the Camaro.

You shouldn't be putting mulch in the car anyways.

Keep the Ford Probe for those things that's why it's made.

I don't think a hatchback on this car would be a good idea

The Probe is history ... gone. Mulch will either go in the new Camaro (not effing likely) or my wife's Saturn Vue. With some planning I can of course drive the Vue. But with a hatchback you make it do what you need to when YOU need to. A hatchback is a car but more. They can do it without sacrificing the design at all. Sadly, I doubt we will see it, and no I don't want an Eclipse.

Oh, and I am a new member, and will be placing my order for a '12 as soon as they let me. Sold my 91 convertible to help pay the down payment, which still hurts.

I think they should have just made it into a station wagon.

It's a throwback car man. It is not modeled after gen 4. If you want a hatchback go buy a Honda.

Hell No...

I would not have purchased a new Camaro if it had a hatchback. I had a 4th Gen with one. That was enough hatchback for me.

as far as mulch goes you should have a truck then you can go buy it in bulk. I have an old 1999 dodge dakota i paid 2k for and i can go get 2.5 yards of mulch for about 60 bucks. if i bought that amount in bags it would be 3 times that amount. as far as bikes goes. I can fit my cervelo triathlon bike in the opening of my trunk no problem. take the wheel off the front and lay down the back seat. i take it every weekend usually

To me, hatchbacks seem very outdated. I've owned 3 Camaros and all were hatchbacks. I want a trunk!

I hope they get rid of the glass hatchback on the Corvette too. It just looks like something from the late 70's - early 80's.... still. Give us something new.
