No Rattle -

I installed the Noise Reduction Kit to avoid the rattle & it came with the shifter - so why not install.....

BTW: I really like the Hurst shifter over the OEM unit.....

Mine was one of the first ones. It didn't come with the kit. It doesn't rattle either.

I bought my used ( < 7,000 miles ) and it had the hurst already installed. It rattles pretty bad in any gear if i put my foot down on it. is it possible to purchase this kit? I've been thinking about switching it out for an MTI or MGW

exactly.

I was probably one of the first guys to personally go back to the Hurst office to complain about the rattle...their head tech rode in with me and recorded the unacceptable rattling noise. They put my car on the lift and added tiny strips of dynamat under there and also on the shifter shaft.

If you ever resell your car, you won't want the rattle to scare off potential buyers. The vibration kit has no impact of how the shifts feel, only the annoying rattle goes away. Most cases, even with your hand on the shifter knob, when you accelerate hard between 1-2 and 2-3, you will hear the rattle. Some cars however don't rattle at all without the fix.

Glad you did all this with Hurst...but...the reason I didn't put mine on was after reading Hurst's own "disclaimer" on the instructions and their web-site...I just re-read it (wish I knew how to attach it!!!) but it "warned"
don't use it unless noise is excessive, it will change the feel and performance of the shifter, etc.....just saying, hurst doesn't claim it will eliminate completely all noise, etc...thanks

The dealer installed my shifter, so I kept those parts from them just in case. I now have a little rattle. The parts are just some sticky rubber elastic material you wrap around the hinge points. One day I may pull the lower boot off and stick it on. I think for those that do not have those parts anymore, I have seen something similar in plumbing stores sold as pipe wrap. It takes just a very small piece.

opinions are "all over the map" on this issue ! the one constant seems to be that you must be sure to really tighten all connection thoroughly.trying to connect with Hurst customer service to no avail .what i really don't want to do is compromise the installation's security ! thanks for all the feedback...both positive and negative.

I really don't think its a big deal...Hurst has been around forever...tons of guys are perfectly happy with them...I'm not a big fan of a "band-aid" type of fix that really isn't necessary...I think it was just to satisfy a few who "complained"...

Do any of the v6 users feel the shift from 1st to 2nd takes alot of force? i find when just cruising it isn't that big of a factor, but when i punch it i feel like i cant shift it quick enough and find it slower then the factory...

Does the reduction kit come with the shifter or do you have to order/buy it separately? Just curious......

When I got mine, I didn't want the reduction kit, but it came in the box anyway. I thought it was a separate item that would cost extra, but not!
