i also have an RS and it makes a great DD. high MPG and smooth cruising, plus the power to pass the slowpokes on the highway

For the winter tires (with new rims), can the rims be the same width in the front and back? Unlike how the width's are different for the RS's? (pretty sure the rear tires are wider) This may be a dumb question but I'm curious if this works..

i had an 91 talon tsi awd. it did wonderful in the snow. i sold that and bought the camaro. i wasnt disappointed in the way it drove in the snow at all. i live in northern ky. and i was doing great when we got snow. cant go very fast but i didnt slide or get stuck either! however, i do have the 18 in. rims and tires. My friend seems to have a little more trouble than me in his rs. up to you! good luck!

My RS is my DD, I live in north western Wisconsin. I still have my summer tires on. I do work from home, however, I have taken the car uptown many times with no more than 1 inch of snow on the roads. It is a pain, but I can maneuver if only for a few blocks. I would not take it on the highway. I have NEVER had any issues with slippage of the tires when air temps are 32 degrees with NO SNOW on the roads.

You underestimate this car for snow driving. I used my stock P-Zeros on my 2LT last winter in Ohio and had ZERO problems in the snow. It's all about the driver mainly, not the car. If you know how to drive in snow with a RWD car, you will be fine.

I have a 1LT as my DD and I live in NY (Long Island to be specific). We've been lucky this winter so far; no snow yet (which is really odd- fingers crossed)... but I am totally confident that when I do have to drive in snow, it will handle fine. I have just the stock all-season 19" tires. As I'm sure others have mentioned, the RS package only comes with summer tires; this is why I couldn't get the RS package (otherwise I would have!!). I am actually happy with my gas mileage- I drive 40 miles round trip each day to work and I average 21-22 (lots of stop and go unfortunately). Don't say that snow driving isn't an option with the Camaro. It isn't preferable; but it can be done if you drive safely. You might want to consider getting snow tires if you go for the RS; but I see you've done this with your Subaru. You might be able to find a V6 that isn't an RS, but then you won't get the Halo HID lights. A word to the wise; once you see them up close and test drive one, you WILL be hooked!!! Good luck!!!

My 1LS is my DD, traded my 4wd 2008 Trailblazer in for it. So far so good, but Metro Detroit has had a pretty mild winter. *knock on wood*

I have a 2011 2SS/RS. This is my second winter in SE Michigan. In the latter part of November, I switch the Summer tires for my Blizzaks on 18 inch Borbet rims. I have not had a problem getting anywhere in deep snow or ice. My summer tires go back on in early April. I am currently at 38K on the car, so it is driven a lot. With two sets of tires, the Pirellis will last a lot longer, they are much more expensive than the Blizzaks.....

I left a grand prix gt (AWD) for the camaro and haven't looked back. I still have my grand prix for days that are horrible snow outside, but thats only because i dont trust OTHER people to not slide into me.

When I lived in Colorado, my daily driver was an RX-7 and then a Boxster. I only got stuck once in the 7 years I lived there. So a Camaro might not be that bad in Chicago, assuming they clear the streets pretty well and it's flat. However, I will admit that if I were going back to CO, I'd likely trade the Camaro for an Evoque. Driving in the snow in a rear wheel drive car is a younger man's game.

Oh, and I second JeSSter's advice on winter tires. Even my Wrangler was awful in the snow until I got snow tires. They make a huge difference.
