Mine started life as a basic Camaro like this. I disagree that it being a mostly original and basic Camaro that it is not worth anything to a collector. Cars like this are harder to find as time passes. I like seeing a basic restored Camaro not posing as an SS, Z28 or some bogus COPO or other obscure garbage people pull off a cowl tag like a 69 X11.

You can go either way with resto if your doing it to flip. I think you find it more easy to sell via resto mod because of larger group of people liking it but I think there is market for an original resto for basic car that is growing.

Mine went from this:

Honestly the air cleaner, gas cap, and stick-on door edge guard are the only non-original things I see. That sir is a pretty amazing time capsule sitting there. Amazing that the smog pump is still on the car and the dash has never been hacked up for some aftermarket stereo and big holes cut in the doors. VERY pristine and pretty much untouched original, BUY IT QUICK!!! I think you'd be very surprised at the attention it would garner if it was just cleaned up and running as it is. SWEET FIND! Doesn't even look like it needs new carpet, once again pretty amazing! Nice original untouched barn finds like that are going way up in value on the collector car market these days, I believe the best value for that particular car would be keeping it near it's original barn find condition, (with a proper air cleaner and gas cap back on it).

The cowl tag (on firewall between wiper motor/master cylinder) on the '67's has option info that can be decoded, however this isn't a highly optioned car.
Best site to decode all the numbers is the CRG www.camaros.org site.

Here's a similar car that's for sale now to help you determine current and future value:

Good luck!

Just seen this thread. some FYI on what I found, and bought in 2005

My story on a 67 has same beginning as this find, estate sale from the daughter that the Camaro was bought new by her mother. The 67 had under 70k miles, was a 327ci w/ power glide auto on tree, with bucket seats, power steering and vinyl top. Camaro was complete and correct with also a repaint somewhere in mid 80's - yes it was a diamond in the dust. I bought it for $7000 (month later was offered $15000 and thought hard on the quick bucks, but everything else I found was beat up somewhat so kept it for my project)

If your able to get this for the $10k to $13k range I think you still be safe if a flip is in mind. Depends. Search the past auctions results, Mechum or Barrett-Jackson. Some darn nice 1st gen Camaros sold, what I thought was cheap, to compare cost to restoring. I can only base from what I spent $$$ and my time on my 67

FYI… My goal was to find a non "hot rodded" Camaro for my goal to make a killer resto mod. I got it done in time for showing it in the 40th Camaro anniversary events in 2007 and still been upgrading or improving it

bonus…. 6 years later, this year's, Camaro5 Fest …. It took Best of Show! I'm sure there was a couple of "huh's" … 1st Gen taking the top honor at the 5th Gen event

Good luck! and I'd be on this find fast also!

That is a great car to clean up and drive it. You could either flip it once you have it cleaned up or just enjoy it as-is. Replace the non-original parts with the GM pieces would be worth the investment. You can leave it alone and call it a survivor.

A quality repaint will put you in the negative financially so the only reason to do that is if you were wanting to keep it and ignore the resale value.

There is very minimal rust but I see some very minor pitting under the back window and a couple minor surface rust. I have read quite a few posts here on the forum about these minor rust issues underneath the windows that have turned into nightmares. Underneath looks decent as well as under the carpet.
1 owner, minimal rust, kept indoors, unmolested, these are the ingredients for a good restoration project.

Agreed

I can help your indecision, just give me the owners contact info so I can buy it and I will give you a "finders fee" and save you from all the future troubles! LOL

Like other members have said, WHY haven't you bought this car yet??
The longer that you "think about it" the more chance that someone else will buy it out from under you!!

Yes, the cheaper that you get it the better, BUT, how many times is this opportunity going to present itself to you???

Buy it, fix it up, drive it and enjoy it!!

If not, give me her phone number!!!

here are pics of what mine started as a $100 body sitting in the So. California desert and just finished a LS/ T56 swap!! (the third time rebuilding/ changing the car!!)

It does have a deluxe interior as well. The body seems to be in great shape. I would bring 8K in cash and wave in in front of their face pronto.

Thanks Ronni!

The seats started off as new Hunsaker brand, but had my upholstery guy recover them in black leather and suede inserts
The steering wheel is a Momo Retro

Expecting a decision soon. Prices will be discussed as well as documentation. Thanks for all the responses. I doubt I am going to pass this one up.
