Holy shi*. I always drift my ss. Seeing this makes me think twice. I nearly roasted my tires doing figure 8's and doughnuts at an abandoned kmart couple of weeks ago. Thats done with for now.

I am sure GM's mega lawyers will say "fix it" after some small town lawyer threatens them with a small lawsuit over side airbags. ![]() Nothing will come of that and it will be a waste of time. Unfortunately for the OP he was tracking the car and the sensor set off the airbags. It sucks, but the best and easiest way for the OP is to get it fixed and move on.

Side Airbag deployment with No accident
Well since many others have had the same experience, maybe Jobrien should head up a group to hire a lawyer and file a class action conference call.

Funny what a "small" town lawyer can do with the media . Not sure if gm can take much more . If it were me i would hire lawyers and put it in the media that camaros air bags are deploying with out hitting anything . See how that goes with gm . Now thats funny . |

If it goes anything like the key recall they'll just pop it leave it there and give you some hideous 1940s airbag out of storage and double sided stuck tape it on there lol.

The air bags are designed to deploy in the event of a crash. If the vehicle wasn't involved in a crash, they did not function as designed. I don't see the confusion here...GM just doesn't want to admit there is a problem...

Unless GM does a recall on the sensors, people who have this happen to them don't have much to stand on. It is unfortunate because if it happened to me I would want GM to fix the problem for free, but that is a hard road to travel.

The curtain airbag deployed as it was supposed to. Not just from an impact, but DYNAMIC MOVEMENT. A recall is not needed as all car makers (Chevy, Ford, Honda, etc) do the same thing. Not to mention IF you hire an attorney, GM can download your driving behavior at the time of deployment (stored in cars black box). It def sucks, but when you play sometimes you have to pay.

This has happened to other types of cars including a 2004 Dodge Viper. It would make GM look really good by being proactive about this when other car manufacturers are not. It's a much better PR move than that Key fob recall. |

So the cars sensor detected a strong change in direction and that is a flaw?
The side curtains are not just there to detect a rollover. what if that change in direction was caused by someone running a stoplight and t-boning your car? do you really think the sensors are defective? the recent Key FOB recall is a result of people lawyering up. GM is paranoid over Bad press and car defects. I doubt any judge will say that airbags deployed as a result of someone taking a corner too hard at excessive speed is a defect. |
