FYI putting lower ohm speakers on an amp NOT made for them or a radio not designed for them is dangerous. causing more heat and internal strain on the components can or will cause premature failure. you will NOT hear a huge difference either. not with the 15wRms the oem radio with no amp puts out.

I am well aware of the logistics. I have been installing stereos for 30+ years. You
don't need to worry about my car, it will be fine.

Sorry man, those people are half what you want, shipped. I don't know how they're
doing it, but when I am ready, eBay is probably where I will be going.

those ebay sets don't have tweeters.
i have mine because they didn't last a week before i replaced them with a "better set". i have had good luck with inexpensive sets in the past(crutchfield). most used factory speakers are old out of wrecked cars and who knows what they have been through or new sets sitting around that got taken out because most stereo guys change them.
on average the boston set up is but i am a car stereo guy and i like it loud, clean and clear.
i'll tell you what if you still want a set and you think you will be happy with them.
if i can get them into a medium flat rate box i'll do 40 shipped with the tweeters 15 is shipping 15 is the speakers and 10 is handling

I doubt they will fit in a medium flat rate, but if you can, I would go for $40 shipped
for the woofers and tweeters. If they did not last long in your car, then they're
probably newer?

Curious what you replaced your tweeters with, I have the BA system and have no interest in changing the amp out, but would like some better/brighter sounding tweeters I can just pop in and be done with

the thing is the BA amp is something like 50 watts a channel at 2 ohms more like 25 at 4 ohms, finding a aftermarket set of speakers that's 2 ohms is difficult.just replacing the tweeter is not really a option because the factory tweeter is 2 ohm and is crossed over with a capacitor/bass blocker located on the speaker.i have not used the mtx's i put a link up to but they are more than likely a good deal.they come with the speaker adapters and the wire adapters.ya just plug in the wire run it to the crossover input then you have a mid and tweeter wire to run i mine behind the door panel that is also where i mounted the crossovers. at that point you don't even use the the factory tweeter wire. unless someone can prove me wrong(it has happened) the BA amp is a 4 maybe a 5 channel if you count the dash.
23 bucks shipped
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1
another 6.50 shipped
https://www.ebay.com/itm/IMC-AUDIO-7...72.m2749.l2649
that's 29.50 for the stuff that comes with the crutchfiend speaker deal.
the ouestion is do you want to do it yourself because labor to install them will cost more than the speakers.
we covered this before on another thread.the BA amp distorts at the volumes i listen at but most people don't go as loud as me that being said the first thing i did was install a decent amp then i moved on to the speakers in both my camaro's. i also do away with the rear speakers.the sun destroys them and i really don't need sound coming from behind my head.
LONG ANSWER i can go on but i'll stop.

Hey, how is it going?

I would like to point out that, lowering the ohm will not help you. It will just do the opposite thing.

Actually I was also surprised when I first hear that so I will explain it shortly.

In order to compare the speaker's loudness in a given power rate, we look for the sensitivity right? Generally, sensitivity is indicated by @1w/1m, however, some manufacturers write out those terms in @2.83V/1m. This is misleading and exactly related to the ohm of those speakers.

Since you do not have an amplifier and do not want to install one, your speakers most likely get between 10-20 Watts power at the same time. (Not talking about peak power, but RMS which is way more consistent)

You do have to utilize that limited power for each speaker to the maximum by selecting a speaker with higher sensitivity which should be measured in @1w/1m unit.

There is an old formula that is applicable to this manner P = V^2/R where P is the power (in watts), V is the voltage (in Volts) and R is the resistance (in ohms).

Comparing a 2-ohm and 8-ohm speaker @2.83V both indicate they have 90 dB sensitivity @2.83V/1m
2.83*2.83/8=1 watt power is used at 2.83V on 8-ohm speaker,
2.83*2.83/2=4 watts power is used at 2.83V on 2-ohm speaker,

Let's say your head unit is able to supply 16 watts to each speaker in your car at the same time.
The 8-ohm speaker will be able to produce 102 dB
The 2-ohm speaker will be able to produce 96 dB

at the maximum power output of your head unit.

Also, this ohm parameter changes with the frequency of the sound that is playing. From 20 Hz to 20.000 Hz it may even rise up to +100 ohms and drops down.

Basically, you better off comparing the sensitivities of speakers. Try to convert all sensitivities to @1w/1m unit and compare them. If you need a more in-depth explanation you may read the following page. (It is very long but you may navigate through the table of content)

So if I needed to replace the 4 ohm 6x9s I put in (which u can barely hear now) AND recently have gotten a rattle in my door speakers all I need to do is replace them with 2ohm speakers that are the same wattage? does the brand Matter?
