I have installed MANY car systems and the high level(speaker wires) are much worse then low level(RCA phono plugs) Actual pre-outs on the head unit are much better. The adapters are low quality.

Yeah I agree with what you say and i know the quality isn't the same but I don't think ckellyme3 is going for a high end system and for 20 bucks to hook it up you cant beat it

I'm an older dude that doesn't need all of that high amp boom box stuff, (No offense..what ever floats your boat) I just hope the system will have an HDD so I can load all of my songs from my CD's and my IPOD.

The premium system is supposed to include a USB connection. Supply your own HDD or flash drive with your songs on it. You can pick up a 250GB USB powered external drive for a little less than $100 now. I could put my entire CD collection on one of those without resorting to severe audio compression.

I hope it does to if not you can just get an external and plug it into the usb port. Has anyone seen the pics silver turtle posted does it look like the aux port and usb port are in the center consule or what?

I'm glad the USB port and AUX jack are in the center console. I hate having the wire for my Zune hanging from the dash.

Maybe that is ture but im only using the adapter for the subs. which will first be hooked up to an amp with its own equalizer so im sure it really wont be that bad. as long as i can blast it with alot of clatirty from the stock speakers (which i would replace if they were not up to par) and my bass will knock with no distortion ill be happy. besides im sure they make better more expensive adapters.

wow man u must have a rediculiously huge CD collection and like the 900+kbps losselsss setting. i defintaly want the usb connection but the biggest thing id hook up to it is an ipod or something. i plan on just using a 8GB usb drive.

I've been in and out of the BMG and Columbia House CD clubs so many times over the past 15 years, I've lost count of how many CDs I have. I've got a dedicated 250GB drive in my Media Center PC just for music and it's nearly full. Most of that was ripped as WAV (completely lossless). I'll probably have to convert to MP3 320 Kbps for use in the Camaro and that should cut the overall size down to about 1/4 of the size.

I added a dual 10" sub with a 500 watt high quality mono amp recently and with a good converter it sounded good, while some music made the subs sound like they were hooked up using pre-outs, 70% sounded poor.

It would be awesome if the Boston head unit had pre-outs, but I doubt it. I won't change anything in the Boston system, but I want to find the BEST converter available so I can add a high quality single sealed 12" with a high quality mono 1,000 watt sub amp. I want a small lightweight single sub in the trunk, the car is already quite heavy. I don't want a huge 200# box.

well maybe the quality of the actual songs you were listing to was poor because that is the only reason i can think that some songs would sound better than others. and im not worried about a huge box because im doing all of my performance shit first and it will def outweigh any added weight.

well that makes sense then because when you rip on lossless its like a GB per CD if not more. for like 18 tracks. thats cool though man just make sure you keed your HDD somewhere safe in the car from spills and from rollin around hahah.

Not really. I listen to high quality CD's and DVD Audio. No crap for me. I am 46 not 18.

Good luck with whatever you do. I will be researching for the best converter available and maybe a SUPER HIGH END shop to install if I don't feel like it.
