I had a red '69 SS Camaro that was to die for. I decided with the company car, the Land Cruiser, the new 442 and other toys I didn't need it. I let the SS go in '86 for $5750. I looked at a matching numbers '69 Z28 a year or so later and ALMOST pulled the trigger, then figured, $8500...when I've been there and done that, naaaa...

Your car most certainly should have had the chicklets on it. Those speaking of the chicklets being "removed post bankruptcy" are correct.

Well being 56 now I am not holding on to the car for collectability.. that is for the next owner to worry about ... I was just saying who is to know which cars in the future will be and if you want to make sure yours will retain as much collectable value as possible not to mod it or if you do keep all the origonal parts... but that is for the individual owner to decide what he wants to do ...

I once was like you but if someone don't want to drive their car and just let it sit in the garage all the time so the next owner can have a pristeen used Camaro then that is up to them.. but for us we are going to drive it and enjoy it like we are going to die tomorrow, because who knows, you just may...

Ya never can tell.
People back then didn't collect cars like they do now. Everyone holds on to what they have after seeing things appreciate in value. Things don't appreciate much now that every is holding on to things. I doubt these will be considered rare in the future or even considered a classic.

On another note you would gain more monetary value sticking your money in the bank right now then trying to get a ROI 50 years from now. So if your reasoning is to have a rare car to sell in the future, you might as well save the cash and purchase an IRA or CD.

Don't be too hasty to judge... Cap and trade for all the global warming hooplah could seriously dampen muscle car production for years to come if it ever really gets some teeth. Already many people- though not yet close to the majority- would prefer we'd all be driving smart cars and more are added to that list yearly...

It wouldnt make the cars now rare. Especially with all the emissions stuff on them now. It would only make the "Classics" more sought after.

I guess everyone has a different feeling about the chicklets. But when my 2007 Canyon 4x4 came in new I had them off of it within 45 minutes after I got it home and gave them to the parts guy. I think they look stupid. Especially on the Corvettes. Here you hava a nice clean car on the sides and then theres this little square thing stuck on there. If my Camaro when it comes in would of had them they would of been off and in the trash pronto. But just my way of seeing them.
