Long story short, GM Management is just managing their bottom line like most "Public" companies do and ensure they are in line with investors/analysts expectations.

Wrong.

I fully understand your frustration and anger. I hope those who fall under your circumstance get equal compensation for all of this B92 constraint mess.

Not quite jealous, but I do remember the thrill of finally getting my car. Can't wait to see the first owner deliver post.

So not only did our orders get put on the back shelf, those with the Exposed CF are getting them for FREE now.

I'm just saying everyone should have received the $600 credit on their order. It would have been the fair thing to do, or at least give us the option to change our orders to the Exposed inserts.
Sling Shot, I totally understand your dilemma and thoughts. I put my deposit down on this car almost two years ago, April 2010 in order to be the first one on the list. When the first allocation came up in Jan. I had to give it up to the next guy in line because Crystal Red was not available. The second allocation came up and I like you had to make the choice to drop the B92 option and take the standard black insert or wait. I took a gamble and gave up my second shot at the car. I am not usually this lucky when I roll the dice. The third allocation came up and I was able to order the car in CRT with the ECF Hood and it got built just before everything hit the fan. I took a gamble and got very lucky. I am sorry that things did not go as well for you. One way to look at it is that you will have a very rare car. 80% of the 2012 ZL1's built will have the Exposed Hood insert, not many will be black. There will not be a lot 2012 ZL1's built and of those not many with the black insert. You will definitely have a very unique and rare vehicle.

Although I'm not as...how can I put this nicely...as anxious to get my butt in the driver's seat of a 2012 ZL1 as most are, I still feel for those that do.
Having worked for an automotive parts distribution center, and knowing what has to happen before other things can happen, I can appreciate what GM has done to assure the customer has a quality product that they will enjoy...(enjoy is the key word here). Parts have to be just right, and when a company pays attention to detail, even if most of their customers may not notice it, it shows where the heart of the Associates are...and that means a lot...a whole lot. It's one thing to have Associates that can do the work, it's another to have Associates the WANT to do the work. They look at their job as they Get To do the work as opposed to they Have To do the job...very big difference, which affects the work attitude, which affects the final product, which affects the final CUSTOMER!

However, I would think the take away from all of this is the Quality Assessment should be done well before any announcement of placing orders. This way the cars will be ready when the first order is placed and all imperfections/bugs would have been taken cared of...especially when clocking in 200,000 miles on a CTF.
Hopefully the Team will share notes on lessons learned and brainstorm before the next new product launch.
You really can't blame the customers for wanting the carrot that is dangling in front of their face for 4+ months.
Well put,and exactly correct about a BIG difference between wanting to produce a good product and HAVING to do so,a person has to take pride in him or herself to do a job the best it can be done,

No disrespect intended, but do you realize how ridiculous that really is. GM generates billions of dollar in sales. They could give away the ZL1s they have built to date and it wouldn't even be noticeable in their quarterly filings/reports.

On a happier note, congratulations to the all the soon to be ZL1 owners!

RARE is going to be stretch! Unique maybe, but a QC over CF exposed or not, is not going to make HIS ZL1 rare than anyone else in 2012 year of ZL1.

I had to bump the exposed CF as well or forefit the order, then seeing 2012 vs 2013 is only 2-3 months apart and gets upgrades vs out of the box is a big NANNA NANNA BOO BOO from GM in my eyes!

Wow, the biggest losers in all this are the ones that bowed up and thought they were smarter than GM, and went to their dealer earlier this week and cancelled. I'm betting they feel like dorks now.

The real reason is they wanted to unleash a low mpg vehicle when the gas prices were almost at a peak! That must be it. Ok, just kidding. That makes as much sense as trying to holdover ZL1s to boost the Q2 bottom line. That's a tremendous leap into some horsehockey.

Now that's funny! I don't care who ya are. (But we know who Fbodfather is) We also heard Becky's ZL-1 jammed the assembly line because of all the gingerbread she added.

EXACTLY! WELL SAID! I WAS TOLD CHANGE OR RISK LOSING YOUR ORDER. I AGREE WE ALL SHOULD GET THE CREDIT, WE WERE PART OF THE QC PROCESS ALSO
