um, well i dont run a single virus/malware defender on my computer.... they just burn up tons of memory and slow down computers...
IF YOU DONT WANT A VIRUS i can give you a few simple instructions: a. Dont open attachments from e-mails of senders you do not know b. always click cancel, alt+f4 or hit the x on a pop up (unless u clicked something to download) c. if you are downloading files/movies/music use trusted sites d. use trusted porn site.... they do exist. macs are overpriced and over complicated... I dont have issues with windows, granted i run XP and restart it once a month... but you dont see viruses for macs for a few reasons: a. no really important data is stored on a mac... b. hackers/malware creators want to target the masses, until recently it was a PC world. |

works wonders, but doesn't run on 64bit Operating systems. Another simple solution with windows machines is to do a system restore, and restore it to the point from before you got the virus. Another thing I like to do is put the MVPS.ORG hosts file on my computer, and then update it myself every now and then. That seems to help. |

Commits weekly crime
|
Just a FYI, I've had more virus' on my Macs over the years (all the way back to the Mac Plus) than I've had on my PC over the years. In fact, I've only been hit once by a virus and that was at work because someone ELSE did something stupid by opening an attachment.
Mac's get virus' too, but because they aren't as popular, no-one really tries writing virus' for them. As an IT person, I've had to deal with this professionally. Keep Windows updated, and that eliminates most threats, as many virus' take advantage of unpatched machines. Then there's the human element where some idiot clicks on an attachment or clicks on something giving the virus rights to the machine. This can and does happen with Macs too, but as I said earlier...no one really cares about Macs. I'm not a Mac hater, but I am a Mac "superiority" hater. Mac's are more expensive, run less software and really aren't better than a PC. It's kind of like Prius superiority...it's funny, and you just end up blowing past them in your Camaro laughing.
