Seriously, Im a quality cable guy. Dont let me hear you talking like that again.
lol. Alrighty then. It is one more hop while analog so there's room for more loss but I still don't see it happening.

All that being said, I need to correct something. I must've been having a brain fart. The iPod is doing the decompression but it's still the PDIM's DAC that's doing the digital to analog. Maybe I'll dig up the old PDIM shots and try to figure out what kind of DAC they're using in it.

My understanding just the pdim, you will have to control it from the radio.

Can someone confirm that this PDIM will add Bluetooth to the 1SS? Thanks!

no I don't think it will, that was in the cc package only... I say this because the item description does not say anything about bluetooth.

It will (or at least should) add bluetooth for use with the stereo to play music but will not add bluetooth for making phone calls as that's located in a different module (believe onstar).

What does bluetooth have to do with the music?
The pdim is hard wired from the USB to the pdim to the radio head, no bluetooth required.

I thought (and hoped) that the new module should add the phone bluetooth, as well as music.

I thought from following all the other threads that there are 2 modules (1 for onstar and one for the C&C package). Doesn't this module pretty much add the C&C package to the car without the steering wheel controls?

Here is the image from the catalog, notice no mention of bluetooth.
It does mention steering wheel control but does not say it adds it.

A2DP allows some cell phones (now including the iPhone) and other devices that support it to transmit the stereo audio over bluetooth instead of having to plug in at all.

My understanding is that the phone bluetooth is integrated into the OnStar module. Cars without C&C just have a slightly different OnStar module than those with it.

I'm guessing they don't mention it due to the confusion it would cause (this thread being an example). When people hear "bluetooth" they automatically think "talking on cellphone" when bluetooth is much more broad than just that. Everyone would think that it allows you to use the car stereo for hands free calling which it will not. It's entirely possible but I do not see them providing a different PDIM module that does not include the bluetooth chip (which supports A2DP only).
