And any car is fine for a show, within reason. Someone rolled this beauty into a show years back. Had the biggest crowd around it with people taking pics. The organizer wasn't enthused. Guess the owner said he was friends with the organizer and said he approved it. BZZZT. Nope. I thought it was funny but I can understand you wouldn't want it to become the norm.
Hey, that one had classic written on the car so it MUST be a classic. Gotta love those old Caprice Classic boats! I almost miss mine from time to time, but then I remember what a gutless dog it was with that 305 V8.

I drove a 78 Impala, white with a green roof with one of those 305's in college. A real looker lol. Was like a wheezing old man running a sprint when you got on it. Got me to spring break one year though.

Now days, someone would put 24's on it, a day glow paint job, and it's a cruiser.

I agree with this.

It's not a knock on our cars. In general most people won't consider any newer car a "classic". To us it may be the case where we feel it's an instant classic as soon as it came out, but as I said it's not a genuine classic to most.

Point being, don't group the people showing their cars at the classic car show with the snob handing out the flyers.
point missed. I am saying she snubbed HIM from even inviting him the show. I know why the rope is around a very nice, rare car. look but respect.

having restored and owned a couple of classics,no,the gen 5 is not old enough to be one yet.while they are an interesting car and should be allowed to enter car shows, they should have separate classes if competing for trophies.nobody wants to rebuild engines, weld in new panels, repaint and reupholster only to be beaten by a factory fresh camaro, even if its a 2017 ZL-1.

No one can predict whether a car will be a classic or not, but I'd be willing to bet any matching numbers SS in good condition(non restored) will be worth something

5th gen has the best chance since the 2nd gen for collectability IMO just because it's the first year back with a classic look.

That said I didn't buy mine to sit on it for 30 years hoping it'd be worth something

Oh absolutely!! I sold mine to a guy that was going to put big rims on it and deck out the trunk with subs. Mine was an '84. It got me all over the country, from MO to AZ and back then MO to Chicago and back a number of times, AND it survived me as a 16 year old...lol. The second best riding car I've ever driven, second to my dad's '84 Olds Toronado with the ride leveling shocks and extra cushy seats. However, the best mileage I ever got in my Caprice Classic was on I-17 in AZ where I got 31 mpg even with not taking my foot off the floor for 5 minutes killing 1/4 tank of gas climbing a mountain (the rest of the trip was all downhill).

I hate to break it to you but just because you "feel" a certain way, doesn't make it true.

By definition, "classic cars" are just that... classic.

Ours are not classic cars even if they are classic-inspired cars.

She specifically walked past our car and when I asked about the show she said its for classic muscle cars only.
I guess our 2010 isn't considered a "classic".

Things don't have to be old to be classic. At least that's the way I feel about it.
I suppose it doesn't matter, but sort of felt dissed.
I'd be so tempted "Fine, keep your handout, I won't bring the SS396 either". Whether or not I actually had one wouldn't matter at that point because she was making an assumption that I couldn't possibly have anything that would have "fit in".

I have always looked at muscle cars in a different light. I still have my 78 Trans Am (not a classic), my brother and I co-own a 68 convertible corvette and I had a 68 SS Camaro that was given to my from my father (don't have...long story...want to cry now). I got my 2015 Camaro as a birthday present from my wife. I enjoy seeing any and I repeat any car that the owner has made his passion and enjoys showing it. My brother has a 1970 MG Midget that is he is the original owner and it is a dream to look at. My lawnmower probably has more horses than it but he gets a crowd everywhere he takes it. Passion makes a car special not some stuffy jerk who claims he "knows cars" Just my two cents.

One of the shows I do every year is a large, local charity show. There's another smaller local show that must be using the list of the show I attend every year. Every year, since 2012, the organizers of this smaller show send me a fancy invitation, followed by a call. Every year they don't accept me because neither of my cars are at least 25 years old.

This year I couldn't be polite anymore, told the moron, the same moron that has called and then uninvited me for 5 years, to stop raising funds for their current charity and start raising funds for alzheimer's and dementia. I told him that would would benefit him tremendously. We'll see if I get an invitation again next year.

I enjoy going to car shows in my Gen 5 to see the true classic cars, I never enter. However, many people ask about my car as they see and hear the mods.
