Corvette gets a 5.7 DI V8...Camaro get 5.0 DI V8... Z28 gets a slightly detuned Corvette 5.7?

For the truck/SUV line they will need mid and large dispacement V8's

Tell that to the guys with the LLT. They're kicking some behind with bolt-ons. A V8 will be no different.

Sounds like the new Gen V engine! I wonder if GM will keep using the old school single cam, pushrod design or go to an overhead cam design. I hope GM continues using the pushrod design......mainly because their engines make equal or more power compared to similar V8's from other car companies who use the "advanced" overhead cam design. I think this gives GM bragging rights in the horsepower wars with their "inferior" pushrod designs. Honestly, I think these engines are being produced for the new trucks and Corvettes. I think the 6th Gen Camaros will get V6's with a turbo/twin turbo setup......in an effort to meet future federal gas mileage requirements.

From what I have read by someone who is supposed to be a reliable source at GMInsideNews you can expect them to be Direct Injection, not really a surprise.

They will also incorporate Variable Valve timing and possibly be 3-4V heads still with cam in block so they will remain pushrod engines.

No one said there wouldn't be a V8 it's just what are you going to have to pay to get it.

loosing the sound isnt a big issue to me if we get a more 'race car' sound...

but i would hate to loose the easy modding that we have with the current engines

Not true... Only thing that will be hard is tuning a DI engine because the tune that comes from the factory is more likely going to be as good as it gets with the fuel trims. Bolt-ons should work nicely with the DI though...

Well, at least GM is doing something positive with OUR money this time and all bias aside, the Buffalo (Tonawanda) GM Powertrain facility is and always has been a flagship production facility for GM. It is touted as the premier employee/management facility. These people all got on the same page a long time ago. I'm not getting into a union discussion (pro or against) but suffice it to say that the local UAW negotiated very well- fairly and above the board- and were smart enough to look at the overall economy and play their cards with foresight and grace. They were rewarded with the upcoming Eco-line of engines to the tune of $425 million and now, yesterday, officially again rewarded with the new gen V8 at a cost of over another $400 million. Good for them.

Oh, and thank you all for paying for it.

You didn't get the memo that GM paid back all of its loans?
