hmmm that actually does look better in the 3d rendering. I'll wait and see what it looks like on a real one though.

We can offer them both ways very easily.

Question for Xmicro. Why wouldn't you do the same to the lower edge? The vent is formed the same way as it is on the top.

The perspective looks more correct. I personally think they did not design the fake gills correctly, but they had to stamp metal so who knows what the reason was. The way I showed you is more "Natural" looking and more pleasing to the eye.

If you can print on clear and cad cut with a gradient going darker into the vent like the one on Ebay, It will look even better.

Here is the one off Ebay, with the cut I illustrated would be the best look:

Can you print on Clear and Cad Cut, my cutter is a straight plotter we send this kind of thing out to do?

So how is that different than ours? The top angle is exactly the same. Your photoshopped pic shows the top angle different than the one you posted above. You really need to see a car in person to understand the fit of this piece.

Yes. It's an illusion from the photoshop. The actual gills are at an angle, that's what causes the illusion.

Dude, I see the car 4 times a week in my local dealer, I shot the vents and made my own template. The cut on this one is to the template like yours, it is no different "SHAPE WISE". But it is a printed black gradient on clear vinyl. Then they CAD CUT the clear material. It is not a solid black piece. Can you print on clear, then Cad cut.

Dude, since when were we talking about the color? Your first argument was that the shape was not correct, then you post a pic of one from ebay that is cut exactly the same way as ours are, and say that is the way they should look. Now you say it is not different than ours "Shape Wise" and change your point to the fact that the pic you posted is printed on fader vinyl.

autoguy, you should not have to defend the way you do your work. I'm not a vinyl guy, but I'm sure, like in most jobs, there are more than one way to do the same thing.

Thank you. If we did them the other way, there would be someone that says they don't follow the recessed area properly. We have been selling and designing auto graphics for some time, and we like to believe we know what we are doing. The body panel pic above without the stripes installed should answer any questions about how they fit the car.

I will post this again, and hopefully the powers that be like the wording better (those involved know what I mean)

I am not arguing, I am trying to help come up with a better product and to solve an issue that many people commented on, which I agree with. The top does not look right, I know you are simply filling in a recess, but the recess has an improper perspective. If you flatten the top, like I showed you it would simply look better.

I have nothing to gain by showing anyone this, since I can cut my own and do them the way I want. If you want to remain closed minded to new ideas, than you do what you want. I does not affect me personally.

As for the second part of you post, I was showing you the graphic off Ebay because I felt it looked more like a real shadow (which is the effect you are going for) than a simple flat piece of black vinyl.

Those are done on an inkjet on CLEAR Vinyl, then they get CAD CUT. I was asking you if you had that process because I know me and at least 3 other people that like that look better. If you were able to pull it off, I was looking to give you business, since I cannot do that method. If not, I have many outside vendors who will be happy to use my template to create the effect.

I do not understand why you took creative criticism and turned it into a negative. Chill out Man, don't be all defensive.
