Now thinking I should get 3m treatment on the front lower piece at a minimum as added protection.

Car expected at dealership TODAY!
What's the deal with the sudden worry from GM and the dealerships about painted GFX? Haven't they been that way since they started putting them on Camaro's? I never remember this ever being an issue before. PAINT THEM! imo

I ordered my GFX directly from the parts department after I put in my Camaro order. Yesterday I cancelled it. Reason being the dealer would not warranty the paint, even though they were painting it.

I called another dealer and they will warranty the paint for 3yrs/36 months, so I guess it is upto the dealer on what they agree to do...

SSOOCH must have been a "special" member of the design team.

I do not see any reason not to paint the ground effects. As long as the parts are properly prepped, no problem. GM probably does not want to warranty paint work they do not have any control over. We have a lifetime warranty on our paint work.

Ok, I just got back from picking up my car from dealer. The painted GFX looks awesome! I checked under the front spoiler, plastics rivets are on. The sides are solid. The rear....well, almost perfect. The top corner edge (near the back of the tire) has a gap, the 3m tape is not strong enough to keep the edge pulled in since the edge naturally pushes out a little. The service manage immediately acknowledge there is a known problem with the tape or glue that is used to secure the rear diffuser and showed me the bulletin from GM. Dealer will order the improved tape or glue and re-do the rear diffuser. The whole part will have to come off again so I hope they'll not have a problem peeling off the tape that is already has already cured on the car itself. There were some small paint chips on the rear diffuser from installation, dealer will touch it up when they re-do the rear kit. Dealer said they will not paint GFX again! And the reason GM voids the warranty if you paint it is because if something goes wrong with the GFX itself, a minor defect, etc, the kit may be salvageable and re-usable but if painted, they can't fix and re-use it because it is painted to a specific car color.
I took some pics, I will download later.

I love the look of the car with painted GFX!!!!!

installed GFX - pics

Here is a couple of pics of newly installed GFX. Front and sides are perfect. The rear kit has a gap (see arrow in pic) due to tape adhesion issue. I very carefuly removed the half-inch long stretched out tape yesterday since it was such an eyesore, it easily came off like a balled up booger (the piece looks better afterwards, even with the little gap since the tape doesn't draw your attention to that area anymore). I am thinking about re-appying a new tape tonight and c-clamp the piece overnight. Dealer wants it back when they have the new tape but I am not feeling comfy having them touch my car again. Oh yeah, I definitely love the car with the GFX on!

Sorry but I have to revive this thread for a sec.
Anyone know how this camaro was badged in the back with the SS? Does the SS use the same pin holes as the bowtie? This car has a purty rear end

Very interesting if this is true. I wanted to paint my GFX once I buy the car but hearin' this I might take another route. Say if I left the lip un-painted but painted the side skirts and some of the rear, would they still warranty the front?
