Thats what I meant. The cost of the muffler delete hardly touches the wallet and produces and alright tone. Therefore, most are satisfied with it because they can justify the cost in their head. I haven't read too much on anyone that was super stoked they did it.

To be honest just my muffler delete was ok....but once you add high flows it sounded really good. I didnt go the hack the muffler route. After some research im defintely doing a resonated x pipe. Its all about opinion really. There is no right or wrong.

I agree. I had my muffler delete and I was totally fine with it when I considered the price to do it. I added my long tubes and deleted the cats and realized the open sound wasn't for me so I added the mufflers back in the equation. I cannot see myself changing tone and tips for a grand or more so I just choose to stay with the stock cat back because its enough for me. Although, a Borla ATAK would be nice.

The best and cheapest exhaust mod you can do for a V8 is a muffler/resonator delete. It costs roughly $80 at an exhaust shop, and usually sounds better/louder than a $500 axleback. For what a good name brand axleback costs, you could find yourself a good pair of used headers or even new if you get TSP/OBX.

I myself run 2" Longtubes with no cats, no resonators and no mufflers and love the sound. Get compliments all the time, and it's not really as loud as you would think at cruise or idle either (except at WOT... then it's ear shattering from people next to me have said lol).

The L99 folks have a distinct disadvantage.

I got rid of the mufflers and put (tiny) straight thru glass packs on (to get rid of any high freq) and it sounds great. The glasspacks were $26 each. I paid a little bit for install but I had square SS tips installed and brought out through the ground effects to look better. But Had I not done the tips it would have been less than $150 total.

I have the solo axle back and I like it but could use a little more grunt. I'm gonna do headers high flow cats and an x pipe and I think I'll be happier. A fellow club member has headers and a borla atak catback and his sounds ridiculous outside. Point of the post is you probably need to get rid of the resonator and see how u feel then maybe look into headers
