Yea, AF leads the way. 100% ID check no need for vehicle stickers.

Glad they did away with the stickers here, although 100% ID check now.

100% ID checks started after 911 and it's continued that way ever since, so a sticker doesn't get you waved or saluted through anymore. Just makes sense to stop using them if you have to stop anyway

Not sure why the other services haven't figured that out and gotten rid of them too. Waste of $$$

Each Post gives you two choices.

1. Top center of the windshield
2. lower left corner

Most all posts will make you remove it and re-register if it is not afixed properly.

Out here in Southern California, all the Navy bases REQUIRE ALL vehiclesto have a current DOD sticker to come on any base. They also check everyones I.D. which includes all passengers. If you do not have a DOD sticker your car is inspected and you are given a temporary Pass, If you do not have all the required paperwork, you get to make a U-turn and do not get on the Base. THe sticker goes on the lower left of the windshield, and that is what I have on all three of my cars and this is where the DOD stickers have gone on all the cars I have had since 1977.

Heh, I just dont get why the Marine Corps base here cant get the idea of doing 100% ID checks... We still use stickers and just get waived and saluted... and if you dont have stickers, you go to the office next door to base, sign in, get a temp tag and your good to go. Its insane how easy access is here. Oddly enough thats the Main Base. The Air Station on the other side of town is a little more strict, they check IDs and tags.

If you don't have a sticker, regardless of your affiliation, you have to go through the inspection line (you never want to do that).

So if you're in a rental or borrowed car that doesn't have the registration sticker on it, but you have a valid DoD ID and reason for being on the installation, you must still have your vehicle inspected and deal with a VERY long wait in the line. Doesn't make a lot of sense to most of us who live or work on the fort...
The AF doesn't even scan our ID cards. As long as you have it you're good. Doesn't matter what car you're in either.

I am, I just got here about 2 months ago. I'm a crew chief on the A-10's.

Our guards have wireless hand scanners they swipe the CAC or other ID through (even plays the happy birthday tune if it is your birthday) each and every time you enter the installation.
