Sold SS waiting for Z28!

Actually lets say the Z28 does come out in late 2011. Once that car is close to a release our SS will not be worth the same money they are today. Even now they are losing their value because GM isn't selling as many as they thought they would be. Go to a Chevy dealer in most places Camaros are in the lot. They are not moving right now whether it is because winter although that would only affect some states, the economy, etc... I don't want to lose my @ss when the car does come out and no one knows yeah maybe it does come out in 5 years, but if it is out soon than I made the right move. And if it isn't out for a couple of years I get to save till than. I don't need a sports car to survive. i'm content with driving my everyday car, my wife's truck, etc... My father lives 3 miles away if I get the itch I'll go drive his. But when the Z28 is out I'll have it all paid off.

Dealerships know less than us because GM wants them to sell cars. If I walk into a Chevy dealer and I ask about a Z28 release and the salesman knows about it he will tell me and I'll wait. But, if GM doesn't tell them than the salesman will sell me a car on the lot. How many times do you hear about people going to dealers buying a car and than a better model comes out a year later or the model they bought is updated a year later and they get pissed at the dealer. Car companies want the cars they have made sold not future vehicles. If I buy a SS wanting a Z28 and the Z28 comes out GM wins either I sell the SS and buy a Z28 and GM just sold 2 cars. Or I just buy the SS and they at the least sold 1 def car. If they told me to wait for the Z28 there would be the possibility I walk away and buy a GT500, etc... It's called business!

Chevrolet has already made over 90,000 Camaros and there are still about three months left in the model year.
I would guess that means around 120,000 units or more. I would say that is more than they originally anticipated. Does anyone know what the initial projections were for Camaro sales for the 2010 model?
From my vantage point I would say the Camaro has been a success. What makes the Z28 the holy grail?
Where are you going to drive 198 mph at in NY?

Why would you sell your Camaro? Why not wait till the Z28 is produced and sell it then? I mean unless you could find someone dumb enough to pay you what you paid or more you're taking a hit and you have no Camaro for at least a year. What ever makes you happy I guess.

GM is set to sell more than they thought they would. Estimates before the Camaro went on sale were for 80,000. So far they are at about 70,000 sold with 85,000 built. The fact that there are cars on lots means that supply is catching up with demand. Typically a car will spend around 2-3 months on a lot before being sold, and I think the average for the Camaro is around 1 month.

Hey man, I am in the process of selling my 02 LS7 Camaro SS for a 2011 Z/28. I do not think you made a bad move at all. I already have my name in for one at Ron Davidson Chevrolet in Ebensburg PA. First on the list. From what I been told, if you want one of these get your name in early or else it will be tough to get one. Also work with a guy that is at the top of the food chain at the dealership.

Thats the same spiel that the dealers were spouting when the camaro production was first announced. all they were doing was taking people's money and collecting interest on it till they were given allocations. then, in some cases, they took customer orders and sold them behind their backs to people willing to pay 2, 4, 5, 8, $10k+ msrp.

Never said it wasn't a success. It outsells it's class. But I thhikn they expected them to leave the showrooms alot quicker than they have been nationally. I have been through 23 states since the Camaros release and for the last 4 months I have seen alot of Caamros on the lot whereas they were off the truck and purchased before that. and I never said the Z28 is the Holy Grail but I'm not gonig to sit here and debate that it is gonig to be a better performer. I belong to a Track Membership in Monticello, NY along with my father and some friends. I bring my cars there and race around the track for fun. The truth is right now I am blessed enough where I can afford to buy the Z28 and I want one. It's like if you can afford the C6 or Z06 and money is no object most would opt for the Z06 if they take the car to a racetrack. And I will enjoy my Accord it is a good car that's been good to me. My '10 SS is 3 miles away in my father's garage. And since I run his business for him I don't think he'll mind if I take it to the office if I feel like it!

Valid point but every dealer I havee stopped and asked including the dealer I do business with is sitting on Camaros for almost 2-3 months. My dealer has 3 SS and 2 V6. 2 - 2SS / 1 - 1SS / 1 - 2LT / 1 - 1LT. They have been sitting there for a very long time. Now in NY the winter market will not be as good as Summer and Spring so it's understandable. But I just got back from Florida and North Carolina and their dealers seem to have the same problem. I do not know what th answer is but the fact is supply and demand affects prices so yes maybe they have caught up to demand but a used Camaro when no dealer had them was worth more at auctions or on trades than they are now. Now give the car another model year and a potential Z28 on the market it will affect the car if the Z28 is priced where it should be. I'm not trying to make a problem here but as usual I catch crap from anyone on here. I could care less. I am not the only one in this boat!
