not bad. I like it. I just hope we get something (OR AT LEAST AN OPTION) of getting something for an upgrade like that. |

Yes, but in my experience they don't get bent out of shape about it easily.
I had my '00 S10 Xtreme for 2 years and never put a front plate on it. Never had a problem, even the couple times I did get pulled over for something else. |

Right on the money...completely agree with you there. Not some lt blue background for some screen. I saw those spyshots of the interior and their colors and wasn't too pleased. we'll see what happens. I'm SURE we won't be let down! |

Also, I have had an higher end Alpine headunit (CDA-9813) for about 5 years now and still couldnt be happier. You wouldn't believe how much of a difference it makes in terms of making speakers sound better, but you need to have some decent speakers in the first place. It won't turn crap into gold. Consider adding a subwoofer too. You don't need one that can be heard 5 blocks away, but it does wonders for your music. It gives the music so much more depth. Once you get one, you'll never want to be without one again. All that being said, I'll be happy just hearing the exhuast of my Camaro's V8!

They're the same way in NY. I've never had a plate on the front of my SS (bought it new in 2000) and never had a problem. I've gotten a couple speeding tickets in the car and never had anyone say one word about the plate. The only time I ever heard anything was at one of those DWI checkpoints the officer said to please put it on soon. Knock on wood. On the subject of audio systems, I've got the monsoon system in my SS and have been impressed enough with it for a factory system, it's about as good as factory systems got at the time I bought the car. It was so nice I ordered the monsoon for my H3 as well. That system has frustrated me to no end because it seems to have a problem that I can't convince the dealer is a problem. I'm sure it's my own ignorance of the terminology and technology that drives these systems. If I knew more about it I could better describe what is wrong. The symptom of the problem is that certain strong bass percussion sounds make a sound like the speaker is hitting an obstruction when it moves. The sound changes from the sound of a drum to the sound of a cardboard box being struck. The maddening thing is that it only does it with certain songs at certain volume levels and they're not in the extremes. If I play the same song a bit louder or softer the noise goes away. I figured perhaps I had a bad speaker or something and the dealer found no problems, but a couple days later I found the "sweet spot" again where the sound messed up. I tried to isolate it to a particular speaker using the left/right/front/rear balance/fade controls and was able to reproduce the sound with the controls dialed in to each of the 4 extremes. Another trip to the dealer and I showed the service manager how I did it and even provided a CD with a particularly sensitive song. I picked it up later and they said nothing was found wrong. So, right now I hope that they DON'T use Monsoon in the new Camaro because I'm quite displeased with this system. |

I agree with the screen in dash.I really dont care about the audio system cause i can upgrade to my preferences and still keep the factory look. like focal speakers in factory locations for mids and highs, and 8" jl w7 for lows with a nice amp powering everything all being driven by the factoy unit if its decent.

bose
i heard that all bose automotive head units are manufactured by clarion. my mom had a maxima (4 door sports car) with the bose system, we had to have the head unit repaired and we were told to send it to clarion.

I've never met a factory system I didn't rip out the first chance I had.
Unless GM uses REAL MOSFET power amps, 4 gauge power and ground, and polypropalyne surrounds with strontium ferrite magnets on their speakers, the system will be in my garage sale before the car is 2 months old (except for the head unit - will keep that stock for look and functionality). |
