Has to do with the texture of the plastic used, which apparently cannot be fully sanded & primed because the texture is not smooth to start with. He explained that even if you sanded the 'peaks/bumps' off the top, you'd still have the 'valleys/divets' below the surface which is what causes problems with paint adherance over time.
He is wrong...we are a custom paint shop and we primarily paint plastic Corvette parts. Its all in the prep, we follow the PPG plastic painting process for the last 4 years and never a single issue. You need to find a shop that has the know how to do this correctly.

Read the thread They can be painted.

Anyone know how this camaro was badged in the back with the SS? Does the SS use the same pin holes as the bowtie? This car has a purty rear end
I would send Hylton a pm on that, considering it's his car. He should have a good answer for you.

I'll post here for all - The "SS" badge on my rear does not have any pins so it can be attached anywhere using the 2 sided tape that it comes with.

Unfortunately the emblem will NOT cover both pin holes. I had my bodyshop weld up the pinholes so I could use this "SS" emblem that came from the rear trunklid of an Impala SS.

If you do get them painted, please paint them the body color. Painting them to match the stripes makes the car look silly.

I love the looks of the OEM color on certain cars! Like on the RJT! Also, on the CGM. It even looks good on the black! I wanted to match though
