i can see why you are upset.my car is in the shop due to electronic issues and apparently the headliner was damaged when tracing a wire for the door locks.dealer ordered a new headliner and gave me a new silverado to drive while its being fixed...but its still a whole week without my pride and joy.i used to drive older model musclecars that i could fix at home.no way can i do much on this modern stuff.if it continues to give problems after the warrantee is over i would probably sell it and look for something like a mint, low mileage honda del sol.couldnt afford to pay what they want for a nice 60s musclecar now and at least i can work on the honda.

Don't forget the safety pins and coloring books.

I have recently hit this stage. A few years ago something like this would have pissed me off and lead to many rants. Now, I just suck it up and deal with it, because some days life is just gonna shit all over you. Doesn't have to be someone's fault.

Side-note, this was actually one of the reasons I ended up with a 2010. I really liked the 13 with a lot more bells and whistles. However, I had the realization that that was just MORE stuff to go wrong as well. I bought it to go fast and look good. It does both of those fantastically.

You have to read the context of my entire post. "Fink" was an expression that the dealer refused to fix or cover an issue. It goes without saying that the dealer is right for not fixing something out of warranty (although one may not feel good about it). Like I mentioned in my post, I had to deal with dealers not covering legitimate claims during a warranty period. That's where I went into combat mode (you don't want to know what I'm like in combat mode). It was a pain in the butt, but I prevailed because of the warranty and my right to service during the warranty period. It also goes without saying that without a warranty, you either have to pay to fix the problem or abandon the problem and maybe the car.

Bottom line: Stuff happens, it sucks, but in the end one has to deal with it.

Well...I'd say Porsche has it all. My 911 Twin turbo has 685AWHP all wheel drive. 2002 and I have only had to replace the alternator and shifter as the cable busted off. Nothing else has busted or worn out 50K miles.

2005 Navigator I had 6 months and the driver's seat just went up in flames, burning the car to the ground. Manufacturer defect. Would have killed a passenger.

2002 Lexus SC430. Nothing but the tilt function on my nav screen and fixed with a printer motor 3 bucks. Nothing else. Ever...

1992 300ZX Twin Turbo. Replaced everything, but because I wanted to, not needed to. Has over 600 RWHP!

1999 Porsche 911 Carrera. Just ignition switch and water pump. 98K miles.

2013 Camaro.....Brake master cylinder totally out at 5K miles, Seat cover defective and just stuffing sticking out as the front retainer is defective per Chevy, but not covered. Stereo pops when I turn off the car, so I replaced everything as the system was a POS. Try and find a HotWheels Camaro seat cover. The whole thing needs to be replaced not covered under warranty with only 14K miles....Just turned 3. Busted clip on center console so bows out. Not covered. Leather arm rest is vinyl and fading already just from mild perspiration..14K miles???? Drivers door lock malfunctioning already, inside plastic is soft as butter and scratched up at just 14k miles and I baby this POS. I agree. Chevy is not at all reliable and the company as a whole is terrible compared to all else I have dealt with. I will not buy Chevy again. I feel ripped off buying the expensive HotWheels version as I love HotWheels, but It's Porsche, Lexus or nothing from now on. Disappointed in Chevy. 14K Mi Manual 6.2 SS is a slug next to my 3.4L 300ZXTT with 140K on her. I paid 4 times more for the Camaro...Ugg. Last time for me unless it's a 60's model.

not without special adapters. I was going to replace the head unit in my Avalanche, but found out i would have to spend about the same amount as the new unit on additional adapters to make it work...

I can't say as I really blame the O.P. for the way he feels. Two cars, both with the same issues, I probably wouldn't want to risk it on a third either. However, realistically, the consumer demand for "connectivity" in their cars, means that regardless of the brand, it's highly likely he'll run across issues again.

The electronics in todays cars is absolutely ridiculous. Everyone wants their car to rolling offices and entertainment centers, that automatically recognize you, your phone, and knows what you want to listen to, who you want to call, all the while telling you where you're going, and what's ahead, behind, and beside you at all times. Then throw in the probability that the software running all these programs will be obsolete in about a year and half, it's going to get to point that by the time the warranty is up, they won't be able to fix it, regardless of who's paying, because the interfaces aren't compatible anymore.

Man, just give me a nice engine, three pedals, and nice manual transmission, a tach, and speedometer so I can accurately answer the officer when he asks, "Do you know how fast you were going?"
