Ouch. I am flabbergasted by this. No one in the right mind would do this.

I know the feeling. I had my truck keyed in front of my house! Fortunately, i caught the person by doing a little investigation (shoe prints) and called the police. It was someone i didn't know but they knew by word of mouth i didn't like their kind (crack head). And so out of hatred for me not liking them -they (she) "keyed" my truck. Now i have a surveillance camera at my house. i wish i could get one for my car!

I'd be concerned they'd do it again after you got it repaired.

This is the worst keying I've ever seen pics of.
So if it took 25 years, then it happened back in 1984,
how did you have a 99 T/A

Honestly, if I caught the person doing this to my car, I would be in jail for murder.

Not all cameras zoom in, almost all places that use surveillance cameras use a combination of Fixed and PTZ (Pan Tilt Zoom) cameras depending on strategic locations. Cameras at building regular doorways are almost always Fixed cameras and public areas such as parking lots, etc. are PTZs. PTZ will zoom in if the operator makes it zoom. Depending on the software that is being used with the CCTV system and knowledge of operators, a PTZ can be programmed to track movement and auto-zoom on it but this type of surveillance is normally not used in public garages, stores, etc.
Eventhough the auto-track/auto-zoom feature is nice, it is often not used because thieves can purposely create a diversion to make the camera zoom in elsewhere away from where the crime is being committed.

I went out shopping tonight and all I could think about was where to park my car. I've always had some type of performance car and park away from the crowd. But after reading this post, this unfortunate incident stuck to my mind. :(

Oh Crap............sorry about your car...should do some investigating to see if any other "nice" car has been vandalized.Once these people start doing this type of crap, they don't stop on just one car.
