I'm confused by this. You're driving the Camaro. Shouldn't you be the one doing the tailgating?

Living in Houston, you have a 50/50 chance of the other guy not having insurance.
50/50 is generous, heck, I'd be surprised if they had a license, much less insurance. I've only been down here a couple of years, came down from the mid-west. I've never seen anything like it. Between the self centered idiots and tight crappy roads here, I'm surprised anyone makes it to see 30 here. I promise you that there are more tow trucks in this town than K.C. has police cars.

Anyone else have any ideas?
Depress the pedal on the right?

I can't recall the last time I had a tailgater. If I'm driving as I normally do, and someone is completely on me, I'd probably just pull over when I could to let them by.

I moved to Houston when I was 17 from Pensacola Fl, straight out of HS in 1979. It had just started to Boom... cut my teeth on driving there, basically. When I moved to Denver from Houston 2007, I had never seen tailgaiting as a sport like it is here.

I sit back for a couple reasons...

a) I rode a motorcycle for years, and I don't like road debris surprises.

b) You can see gaps in the other lane to pass around.

c) Tailgaiting doesn't get you anywhere faster, it just pisses off people.

d) Usually the vehicle in front of you sees your Halos, and moves over to let
you pass... at least for me.

Had a bad one just a couple of days ago, a small 6-wheel moving van in heavy I-295 traffic at the Rte 42 interchange, Jersey barriers on both sides of the road. Not only was he crowding the bumper of everybody he got behind, he'd blow an air horn if you didn't accelerate fast enough when slower traffic than you moved over or traffic ahead picked up a couple of mph. Like he expected you to use the half of the lane the slow guy had just barely vacated. My son says it was a United truck.

No options, and the impatient SOB still can't sit back and roll with it for another half mile when the road opens up from 2 to 3 lanes.

It's Florida so not surprised.

Up here the worst left lane camping offenders usually have Connecticut plates. Sometimes Massachusetts. They won't move over if they are the only car for a thousand yards. Real clueless idiots.
