I'm pretty sure it's the rearend, when I put it in gear and start to let out the clutch its just clack clack clack, no movement
i did the same thing & it was the drive axel not the rearend. it was fixed under warranty no problems. i was not at the track though.

Did you find out if it's the rear end or an axle? I have been contemplating an axle upgrade. Thanks.

Question Input or output, that is the question.

Are you sure it was the input shaft? In mine, it was the output shaft (it's about as long as your forearm and surprisingly heavy), big end's bearing shattered and sent metal into the works. The input shaft is much smaller.

In my opinion if you have the warranty and something breaks go get it fixed. He was at the track and used a feature available on his car. I doubt GM made the feature planning on voiding everyones warranty that used it.

+1. Launch control did nothing but alow me to burnout/hop 1/4 of the way down the track.

The stock tires can't handle 4200 rpms.
I try to launch around 36-3800 and roll into it as it grips. Keeps the RPMs above 3000 to stay out of torque management.

jrs...I don't think you got my point. Rousch thought about going IRS with his Mustangs. Decided the higher strength of a solid axle was better. After all, it is gettin' on it going straight that most of us do. In spite of the old age of the solid axle concept, Ford has done a great job at making it work VERY well. IRS may be tech correct, but is it worth the loss of strength?
