Please let us know how your service goes when they replace the top! We are here if you have any questions!

GM customer service has contacted me this morning as well as the dealership's service manager. This issues with my car are being addressed. It absolutely kills me to say but I do not want this car back. Standing water inside of a closed up car in the summer in New Orleans has probably grown something (mold) that would be a danger to my health.

Right or wrong I continue to work within the service structure of GM to have all this resolved fairly and will unless I am given reason not to.

Now I have to go and prepare for a hurricane aimed at us.

So far so good down here. A lot of rain and wind and power outrage but no real damage in my area. All this free time, off till Tuesday, has got me thinking about a 1LE as a replacement to my vert.

Still no power but I escaped any real damage from Issac.

Received phone call from GM yesterday to tell me that just because the dealership flooded my car and it has been out of service for repairs for 45 days in the last year that it doesn't look like I qualify for a buy back... according to my state's laws.

The flooded car is a dealership/workmanship issue. And although GM is willing to stand behind the car they are not willing to stand behind this dealership.

After I raised concern about mold growing (standing water inside car for over three weeks) in my car that it was not safe and that how could I be sure that mold has not formed in AC system, or inside of the seats, behind the dash ect... wait for it. "GM has experts that can certify that the car is safe." I called bullshit.

Stay tuned.

Tram,
Glad to hear the hurricane is sparing your area. Not glad to hear about this dealership leaving the car outside, WTF? Sounds like the dealership needs to be hammered no matter what the outcome! You should research the lemon law for LA to understand where you really stand.

Are you talking to the executive office at GM or the regular customer service folks?

Who ever gets the BBB cases. Can't believe I am going to get caught between GM and dealership.

After the car is completely repaired, Just do the right thing.

Try as much as you can to put the car "back to stock" condition, except for things that you probably think should remain.

And sell the car, or trade it in for something else.

Or just pay the car off and consider this car your "beater" car.

Optional: Keep records of all the times your car had to be fixed and the time involved, and if you truly do want a GM buyback, then take the steps everyone else did here.

Which shop? Rod's in Huntsville did mine. So far it's still looking good. I was impressed by their work and glad the dealer didn't attempt it.

Man I wish I had enough money to do this. I work two jobs JUST to be able to have my dream car. The last thing I expected when I drove this car off the lot is that I would have to become an expert on lemons and buybacks and tops and water management bags and rub marks.... and. :(

Love the car but I hate what it takes to own THIS one!

Just get the new carpet along with the water bag repair job. Your car will be fine in the long run. I just went through the water bag and top replacement and so far so good. You eventually get over the anger of the flood. It took me a few months but I'm happy with my car again.

I don't know if you read the entire thread but my car has been left by the dealer sitting outside with the leaking top. Water standing in the car at 3 weeks mold mildew smelly. Glad you're satisfied with your car but I don't think there's any way I could be satisfied with the this car let alone the depreciation. I don't think there's a member on this site in his right mind who would buy this car so why should I be stuck with it?

Been there, there is nothing that can help except fixing it (to late) or go for a buy back. Sorry to hear this, I just can't believe the mess that GM has caused for some. I still say if they stepped up initially and acknowledged the problem these cases would never have gotten out of hand.
