As far as i can tell, adding any decent power takes a gazillion $

The blower and IAT sensor get heat soaked and it references a different portion of the startup timing table. Have to play with it to get it right without affecting cold startup.

having to do it with the front pulley adds cost because smaller than a 3.4 or so with a 6 rib is a losing battle. |

I thought something was off with my tune, so I got a 2nd opinion. 'Turns out the tune is fine, but even with a 3.4" griptec pulley and super-tensioner (already have OD rears, BTW), I get massive and instant belt slip (~4 psi drop) above 6K RPMs. They recommended going to a 15% overdrive balancer and stock 3.8" front pulley, saying that would put me at about the same boost without the slip. I haven't been able to find a 15% OD balancer for my setup though. Thoughts?

Much larger than the IW or ATI balancer would not leave enough room between the water pump pulley and balancer for the belt. That is likely why the IW 10% is actually 8%. Also why we generally run OD cogs and 10 ribs whenever we can.

Thanks. The 2nd tuner metioned something like that. I suppose that could be why his partner never got back to me about finding a larger one, even though he swore one existed. I was really hoping to avoid the extra cost of an 8 or 10-rib setup (let alone a twin pump fuel system), but it looks like I don't have much of a choice (?). Which setup do you run, BTW?

You can get an OD 8 rib and try to run that with 6 ribs. I have been running 10 ribs since we developed our kit. The other issue with 6 ribs other than belt wrap with a small pulley is belt stretch. The 6 rib belts stretch under load between the balancer and blower pulley, so it lifts up over the blower pulley and lets too much air underneath so it slips.

Post #51 shows the alternate belt routing that helps a lot with the belt wrap. That is the prototype I made to move the idler without replacing the whole bearing support bracket. In that picture, that is an 8 rib belt and I got 16 psi on my 416 with a 4* overlap cam. We are doing the same thing with our whipple 10 rib set.

Still ironing out the details, but looks like we will be able to use a core snout, then machine them to accept our ramp securely. This should reduce cost significantly, the design is done, just have to get some mill time freed up to make a couple test pieces, I already have a few core snouts. Then dyno testing.
