So has anyone tried the rev thing? Where the gm tech said Dead rev it and it should unstick the valve? If mine comes on, I ain't skeered! I plan on keeping my oil changed about every 2k miles with synthetic oil.

Oil pumps are relatively cheap for insurance. If your gonna Tune or Mod your engine... Just get a new Pump! its pretty simple...

its not the pump it self that is the problem, is the installation price that is the problem here. ya its probably worth it though. but there is not enough info on the forums about after market pumps. i feel like not a lot of people have after market ones.

MikeSS I agree, not enough info here, but if your gonna mod you better invest in a pump, luckily we have these forums today to inform us of these issues! If you mod and want your engine to last its an investment you must make!!!

It's sad that you pay 30-40k for a car and could possible have to pay another 5k on a new engine just because you tune it :/ where are the
GM reps on this one!???

i had code P0521 'Engine Oil Pressure sensor/switch circuit range/performance" pop up back 4/09 after i installed the TT's which had me move the sender 2-3ft away. Has me worried again.

I had driven my car about 50 miles taking my 87 year old Dad to see the doctor and stopped at a drug store to pick up his medicine. It took about 30 minutes to get this done so the car had cooled down a lot. Came out to start my car to leave and the DIC said low oil pressure shut off engine, I looked down at the oil pressure gauge and it showed no oil pressure. Had to have a roll back come and get the car. I am modified with a CAM and TVS 2300 supercharger but am taking it t the dealer on Friday to let them diagnose this. I checked my oil and it was spot on. We checked the connections to the oil pressure sending unit and all looked good. We tried starting it once more and I quickly heard some valve train noise and shut it off quickly so it ran twice for less than 5 seconds each time total. At that point I knew I had major issues, so we stopped at that point. Looked at the TSB on the oil pumps and this follows the sticking valve exactly like the bulletin says. Since the oil pump has never been touched and as we all know the mods I have done really could not have anything to do with this I am going to go the honest route and just put it in front of GM and see what happens. I may very well get turned down, I am going to be totally honest on this but someone is going to need to explain to me how my mods had anything to do with this. Wish me luck!

with your mods i would probs invest in a better pump over factory. i am VERY interested in what your dealership will say. it seem that some with modded cars get it fixed but at the same time some don't under warrnety.

i also worry about this happening to me, i would have to get my car towed hour away to a dealership that seems to be fair from what people say here.

good luck, and let us know whats going on.

Well they would not do anything for me, apparently the GM rep said no go. I thanked them for giving it a try (no mater how small it seemed to be LOL) We drained the fluids this evening and the good news nothing in the oil. We tore it most of the way down this evening and should be ready to pull the crank pulley on Wednesday. We have a Melling oil pump on the way. Should know if it lives or dies later in the week. I think if I had it to do over I would have changed the oil pump a long time ago.

I just finished up installing the Melling HV 10296 oil pump. Test drove the car about 25 miles and it seems OK at this point. I apparently am a one of the lucky ones this time!
