Just for the heck of it I cross checked the performance reviews for each tire on Tire Rack. The Kuhmos did well, but the RE-11s performed better overall. The Kuhmo's laid down slightly faster times in the slalom and lap tests, but the RE-11s were better in just about every other test, especially ride and noise comfort and stopping distance (wet and dry). Still a great tire especially at that price.

I had Re-11s. Trust me. The ride is harsh like hockey puck, run flat harsh. My car creaked bad when I had them. Passengers would complain about the harsh ride. They were also not the best in wet. Very sturdy though. But don't get me wrong. With a 20lb rim I would use the 325 35lb option. My suspension still works great with a 55 lb wheel.

Harsh ride in a Z28 come standard.. The Z shocks are filled with wood not oil..

Yeah for sure, it all makes perfect sense on track but pure crap on streets and back roads.. We are veering of course in this thread, btw.

Ha! Compared to the Trofeos this car is a dream on the street with RE11s.

Point is, it's all relative.

Actually Pirellis are rock tires as well . Regardless I like all you Z28 owners and am glad for you that you own a great car. Now go find some damn corners and let it rip.

Will let everyone know how these are. Pirelli PZero N2 Spec in 305/30/19.

They were one of the wider and more square tires
12.3" section width 12.0" tread width

they are very good and quite tires,
I used them at the Silver State Classic Race and the Mojave Magnum Race
Still use the Trofeos for the Track

I've had the RE11As for a few days now. I don't notice a significant reduction in harshness of ride or noise. However, they don't seem to tram line as much. As far as the weight...I can tell it's there, but the car is still very responsive (would it lay down a 7:37 on the Ring..no, but I don't track the car...). Also, I had to make an emergency stop last night and they gripped very well. So far, very pleased.

EDIT: I read up on tread life...several guys have done multiple autocross sessions and track sessions while daily driving and are at 15K plus miles with plenty of tread left. And as for handing in the wet, I've read nothing but good things.

The sidewalks look a lot shorter when next to the Trofeo. How do they look once mounted??

Some good reading here. Anyone else? I'm looking to get a second set of wheels and street tires. I do track my car so I don't want to drive the Trofeos on the street. Street driving is minimal other than a few shows a month. One monthly show I attend is a 200 mile round trip so I have trailered my car there but that defeats some of the fun factor. Its not the wear I'm worried about, its road debris puncturing or damaging the soft compound Trofeo. Need some throw down wheels and tires for the street. What are your all thoughts on the replica Z28 wheels in 19".
I was even thinking of going with 20" wheels since the tires are easier to get. Has anyone done 20's for the street?
I do not trust replica wheels for the lateral loads this car sees at the track.
