If it does break, then you're covered just like any other part on the car.
Mine is still in one piece even after the Paul Tracy test.

Just bear in mind that there is a difference between performance driving...and abuse. Try to refrain from those redline clutch-dumps....
Wait a minute.... I thought the car and transmission was designed to be able to do a "clutch-dump..."? Am I missing something here? For the record, I have yet to attempt that manuever until I am near a dealer I trust, in the event it does fail.

redline clutch dump is a whole lot more abusive than what is needed.

You can dump the clutch from about 3500 and that should be more than enough revs to have some fun.

Mine broke while using launch control at the track. It made a clunk sound and didn't move an inch.

all i know is a large transmission aftermarket company is claiming the tr6060 in the camaro's is missing a part that other performance cars with this transmission have. The space for it is there...its just not in said space... just something to think about.

More info on what this part is, what it does, and who offers it?

If you're gonna put it out there.........

Guys don't confuse using a feature with a failing part.

The only real connection with LC is that the output shaft failure seems to be happening more often when you use LC.

But again if it breaks they will fix it. end of story. So use LC all you want just use it properly.

How not to break your transmission

I broke my out put shaft in August. GM installed new transmission. I had made two or three launches with TC on and two or three with controls off. The third launch in Comp mode BAM, car never moved. I did pop the clutch on comp mode rev. limiter (4,200) and comp mod applies limited ABS at same time. This is asking for disaster, ask last years Nissan GTR owners. Nissan voided warranties and reduced launch RPM limiter from 4,200 to 3,200 this year because of breakage. My output shaft broke clean (like a sliced banana) about an inch or so into tranny housing. Tr shaft fell out and tr shaft to drive shaft bolts clanked when pushed. Put shaft back into housing and could push car with no clanking. Probably bad shaft if it breaks like this.

I am hard on my car and race at the track. Probably 100 launches since breakage. NONE IN COMP MODE. Now I drive out with the clutch (not slip it and don't pop it unless in or just out of water box, which limits traction for burn out) with TC off or everything off at around 3,500 rpm. There is no need to launch higher than 3,500 rpm with 20" drag radials. Never use comp mode. You will get better launches this way than comp mode. Now I leave TC and or Stability Control on for the street to limit wheel spin/sideways and limit launches with TC to 3,200 or less. Car can get sideways in traffic hitting second hard with out TC or at least Stability Control on. With TC off or all controls off (hold button down for 7 - 10 seconds) limit to 3,500rpm or less. If drag radials are not spinning enough and it bogs coming out of wheel spin, increase rpm launch by 2 or 300 rpm per launch. Don't floor the throttle until wheel spin stops and ALWAYS get off the throttle if you get wheel hop. Best 60 foot 1.667 but usually 1.8s or 1.9s.

BMR Fabrication lower control arms will stop wheel hop on the street and help at the track. Upper toe rods don't seem to do much.

Anyone know what the approximate cost for repairs is if this output shaft problem happens out of warranty? Looking to supercharge, so would obviously not be covered! This may help many members to decide the risk factors of modding and just how much their willing to accept. I totally agree with "pay to play". So that being said, this could be a GREAT OPPORTUNITY for someone to offer a transmission upgrade package that my be less costly than after a breakage. Any Vendors have something?

you'll be replacing your entire Tranny....

But I wouldn't be too sure that they will deny the warrnaty if you are supercharged.... Especially if you have the exact failure being discussed here.... You may get a repair. I mean, yes, if you put a blower on your car you are risking your warranty whether the tranny was bad or not.

So, I'd just build the car the way you want it. if it breaks, take it in see what they say. if they say no then go get a rebuild besatly tranny...
