Today while driving out of the corner of my eye i see a skunk run out of the woods and so I hit the breaks I stop before hitting it. it stops crossing the road right in front of my car and so I wait it dosen't move so I drive over the thing with out hitting I start to smell skunk. I started praying that it didn't spray my car I get home and I smell the skunk I am so angry I rinsed the bottem of my car with the hose. I also heard charcoal absorbs oder so i put some in a container in my car. Dose anyone know anything else I can do to get rid of the smell?

This is my nightmare-in-waiting. I volunteer at a wildlife rehab center, so I sometimes transport animals for them (so far a tern, a robin, and a chipmunk have been lucky enough to ride in my car). And the Camaro is my only car. I've told them skunks are not on the list of animals I'm willing to transport.
Since I haven't so far had to try any of them, I can't say how well any of these options work, but here are some suggestions: http://www.getridofthings.com/get-ri...kunk-smell.htm And thank you, by the way, for not hitting it. |

Time. That's the only thing that worked for me. I mean, I washed the hell out of it. But, I gave it time. It took about a week and a half to two weeks for the smell to finally go away.
I actually HIT the skunk and killed it (obviously not intentional). The smell was the most horrendous smell I've ever dealt with (besides decomps on the job). But, the smell lingered in my garage forEVER. It came in the ac vents of my car. GUH...it was HORRIBLE. |

We use hydrogen peroxide, dawn dishwashing liquid and baking soda when the dog gets hit by a skunk. Might try it in a hose end sprayer and spray the underside real well, and wherever that skunk got close to with his spray.
What rotten luck! Sorry you got caught in that stinky stuff! |

I would advise bringing it to the carwash (brushless of course) and just soaking the hell out of it. Send it through a couple times just to try and cut the smell.

if you can tell where the car got sprayed then go to the store and get you some V8 tomoato juice and put on the place where the skunk sprayed the car.
Do this in the shade on a cool car meaning cool body panels or underneith. Let it sit for 10 minutes then squirt it off. if you do this at home and its the under carrige then squirt it off then go to the car wash and squirt it off. if its the body panels meaning paint then wash with your regular car wash soap you use. Tomato juice gets rid of skunk smell if you get sprayed Google it |
