Regionality seems to play a huge roll in muscle cars? Any idea why?
I wish I could find some data on distribution- not just by state, but by city.
I live in cincinnati, OH, and I RARELY ever see camaros, but see challengers EVERYWHERE. I was even hanging out with some people the other day from the area who were telling me that the Challenger has to outsell the camaro + Mustang because they are all over the place in Cincinnati. I assured them that wasn't the case, but they didn't believe me. Up in Syracuse NY, where I used to live when I first got the camaro, still when I travel there there are no camaros ANYWHERE. There aren't many challengers either- it's all mustangs. Now this weekend I was in Indianapolis, and there were camaros at every intersection. I haven't seen that many NBS camaros in my life. It really got me thinking that theres got to be a ton of regionality with muscle cars, but I can't quite figure out "why". Any takers?

2010 Camaro SS modified extensively. I stretched the body to make it a 4 door, but I swapped in the 3.6L DI V6 for fuel economy. Then I picked up a corvette body around the V8. I also swapped the body for a C2 Z28. (In short I traded it for three cars, a Corvette Z06r, a C2 Camaro Z28, and a Cadillac CTS Summer Performance package 3.6L DI with Aisin 6spd.)

I know Texas and Oklahoma were among the top states where camaros were sold.
South is more conservative.... Conservatives love their big v8s :P. |

There was a 69 Camaro Z/28, 3 Camaro RS V6's, and 1 Camaro SS at an intersection here in oklahoma city... I see redone 60s and 70s Camaro's all over the place here ! For every 4 5th gen Camaros I see there is a redone 60s/70s Camaro !

Where I'm at there's mostly Dodges. Only because there's only two dealerships here, one Chevy and one Dodge. The Dodge dealership is about three times the size, in dimension and popularity. Thus, Chargers galore.

That's awesome you see that much GM muscle. Back when I was in high school and college between 94-01 that's what a lot of young men women in the SF bay area used as their daily drivers. They would pick up descent 64-72 GM muscle cars between $2,000-$5,000 and use it as their daily drivers. Sure there were 5.0L and import guys and that made it all the more fun. Then the .com boom hit and muscle car value skyrocketed and made it almost imposable for a young person to own a show and go first gen Camaro like bought when I was 18 for $5k. I sound old by saying this but those were the days......and its sad it was only 10 years ago.

I know what u mean. When I read posts that say they seldom see Camaros, I scratch my head because see more Camaros everywhere in the city I live and where I work. But then again, in SoCal, u see pretty much every car on a daily basis.

I did my part for SW ohio and bought mine on Friday. Although I see plenty in Dayton; but I still cringe when I see one driving through snow in the winter.
