So I found out Im #30 at my dealer.

I found out today that Im #30 out of 40 preorders at my dealer. They have 18 cars for their first allocation so I had a couple of questions.

How does allocation work? is it monthly? weekly? or how?

He told me they are going to get a few Cars from a different dealer but that they are going to pay MSRP for them so they are going to sell them for 2-3k over MSRP to make some money on them. Im actually getting temped to pay over MSRP for one of this instead of waiting for months.

allocation is per week, Chevy tells the dealer how many he can build on a thursday and the dealer has to the following tuesday to submit the order.

And i can bet there is a couple dealership around you with open slots for camaro's you should look more.

Dude. I wouldn't pay over msrp. Try another dealer or just wait. You can get some extras for the money. Unless you just have money to burn.

I call shenanigans on 18 "allocations" for a week. More likely that he's referring to the production guide number which is up through 3rd quarter. If they've sold that much over their guide as it sounds like, that's BS. Do us all a favor and go elsewhere. We don't want crappy dealers getting business.

Just wait. At #30 of 40 you are in good shape to get your car. It could be built by the end of June of mid July. IMO I am 11 of 12 so I wait. Just more time to save money and chat it up on this site. No reason to pay over MSRP!

Actually I dont have many options around me the other 2 dealers near me, oversold their allocations by even more.

So he told me I'll be on their second allocation, They're alreayd getting 3 cars in for customers who preordered in the next 3 weeks.

I had the same thing happen to me. I ordered and then found out I was #29 out of 30!! Needless to say I was not happy. I called around and found a dealer up the road about 45 minutes where I would be # 3! So I cancelled the first order and placed a new order at the new dealer. As of last wednesday of week My car was at 2500 and the #1 car at my dealer has already been produced. So my honost opinion? Go somewhere else. You will get your car quicker.
Good luck no matter what you decide!
