How Often do you clean/service a K&N filter?
How often should I be expected to need to clean and reoil my K&N filter?
Every oil Change? Every Other Oild Change? 10,000 Miles? 20,000 miles? It was never specific in the instructions.

It's really going to depend on your driving conditions. If you live in a dusty environment, you're going to have recharge it more often. I inspect mine every time I open my hood.

None of my filters will ever be cleaned/recharged. It's fact that a good paper/cellulose filter will filter better unless you need the extra airflow because of mods.

check it every oil change, empty out the bugs, once a year clean and re-oil.
unless it gets real dirty, then clean and re-oil as needed.

I have cleaned my CAI filter about three times in almost two years-21K miles.

Thanks, basically it's like a normal paper filter, but instead of replacing when it gets dirty just clean and reoil it.

Thanks! If you have not experienced a decrease in mileage or engine performance, chances are your filter is fine and does not yet need cleaning.* To be more specific, the filter does not require cleaning if you can still see the wire screen on the entire air filter regardless of how dirty it may appear. When the screen is no longer visible some place on the filter, it is time to clean it. When used in normal paved road, street or highway conditions, our replacement air filters that fit in the factory air box should require cleaning every 50,000 miles and our large conical filters on an intake system should require cleaning every 100,000 miles. When used in dusty or off-road environments, our filters will require cleaning more often. We recommend that you visually inspect your filter once every 25,000 miles to determine if the screen is still visible.*
