Why not shed the water?

If Corvette tops shed the water, why collect it in a Camaro Rain Barrel?

Completely different design. The vette top sit ON the car, the camaro is in.

IMO, that is how it should have been designed and some of us poor souls would not be experiencing the issues we have been.

I could be wrong, but looking at the body design, I get the impression they originally planned for this type of top.
There's allot more moving parts in this style, but you end up with a hard shell cover for your retracted top.
They ran into problems with the design and suppliers getting these soft tops to market, I think the end result was a bit rushed.

I really don't know a lot about the Corvette design, but I would bet there is still some kind of water management system.

My point exactly.
There was no reason for GM to cause Camaro Convertible owners so much grief.

Yes, it has a system...water rolls off the car onto the ground.

My '01 Convertible has been 100% dry and trouble-free.

This 2014 looks like the exact construction of my 2001 top and tonneau.
Except mine folds manually, is trouble-free, and was dry as bone inside, sitting outside during Tropical Storm Irene on Cape Cod.

The 4th gens had a drainage gutter under the top that was about an inch deep and wide. It funneled any water that made it past the seal to the rear wheel wells. Once in a while mine would plug on the drivers side. A coat hanger up the wheel well took care of it every time. The design on the Camaro is just piss poor. It was rushed to market after the initial supplier went out of business 6 months before release date. Hence the reason it was delayed. If I am wrong, someone please correct me. But I have been researching this since my first 2012 had so many problems back in 2011 and was repurchased.

Hey, GM...

...how about a redesigned top for Gen6 Camaro?

Maybe borrow the Vette's time-tested-top-&-tonneau ?

My gut says they are going to discontinue them. I sure hope not cause if the design of the car is great, and the top is redone, I would be in the market for one.

An article I read some time back said the fate of the 6th gen convertible was at risk because Cadilac and the others decided not to pursue a convertible version of the Alpha platform. Chevy could decide to go it alone, but what would be the return on investment?

my gut tells me that there is a good chance that GM will NOT produce a convertible for the 6th gen.I don't think GM wants to go through the headaches and expense and embarrassment and losing any more customers because of the bad tops.

A series of several events led to the issues with our tops, many outside Chevy's control (who knew the economy would tank and their suppliers would fold faster than their tops). "It" happens. Credibility and customer service go a long way to maintaining customer loyalty. Man-up, take your lumps and make things right, and I'll still be right here supporting the bowtie. I've hung on through the Vega, the Beretta, and let's not forget the Citation.

Otherwise, I'll be checking out what other manufacturers have on the lots as this warranty expires.
