Anyone Use Royal Purple Break in Oil?
If so, what are the instructions on it, do you drain the factory oil right away and put the royal purple break in oil in it? how long to you keep it in, and is it alright to change oil brands from mobil one to the break in oil at the beginning of the engines life?

RP says to change to out the break in oil before 2500 miles. I am going to have my dealership put mine in before I drive the car off the lot. I plan on leaving it in for about 750 miles before going back to Mobil 1.
Advance Auto has a deal right now for 5qts Mobil 1 and a Mobil 1 filter for $30. Buy two sets and end up with 10qts and 2 filters for $60. Then purchase your break in oil as well. Now you have your break in oil, a filter for it and then all your oil and filter for the swap out. My Advance Auto store also had the break in oil in stock. |

I'm gonna leave the GM break in oil in mine, but then i gonna change it to either RP or Mobil 1 after 500 miles. Never used RP before, Mobil 1 has always been a great product for me....... so i'm undecided now.

If you have an SS, your GM break in oil is Mobile 1 synthetic.

WOW. That might need some updating since it's a direct contradiction to what the SS is using right from the factory.

my car had 2478 miles when i got the oil changed a couple days ago, it is a 1LT. I originally purchased the oilchange for life, but then upgraded before my oilchange to the synthetic oil change for life. They used mobile 1 synthetic. Is this the best thing for my car? or is there a better brand?

If you are just doing daily driving, nothing out of the ordinary then Mobil1 is a good oil.
If you plan to go FI, or run harder like in drag racing or something then I would suggest RP, Redline, Amsoil. But Mobil1 will still work. Just not as well. - SK

I will say one thing about royal purple we have used it in our drag cars for several years and using conventional oil on the dyno and then running royal purple. The purple gives 2 to 3 horsepower more on the dyno. To those of you that might not be much. but power is power.

the camaro wont be my daily driver, i have a 2003 civic that i drive to work/school. I will mostly use it when i take my girl out or somethin like that. Today we went on a long trip(compared to the rest we've done in the last 3 months). We went to seattle which is 3 hours from where we live, drove around over there went down by the piers then went to a casino.
So basically unless i'm gonna be racing mobile 1 will be good then right? I hope so, i know i deffinitely will not buy a lifetime oil change again, oh well lessons learned i guess |

I use Amsoil in my new camaro and all my other vehicles. It is the best oil on the market and will out perform royal purple and mobil 1 any day. I am a dealer of it but i am not hyping it up just b/c of that. I first started using it and seen the benefits and results of it then decided to become a certified dealer. check it out on my website
